By Douglas V. Gibbs
I was curious if, with the Coakley loss in Massachusetts, and the loss of the super-majority in the Senate, Barack Obama was back in campaign mode (as if he ever left campaign mode). While searching through the Internet for an answer to my query, I found on You Tube an interview Barack Obama did today with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos. I watched the video, and then found a similar video on the ABC News website, and watched that one too.
Back and forth I listened to them, realizing they weren't the same.
The questions by Stephanopoulos was the same, for the most part, but some of Obama's responses were left out on the You Tube video.
The one that caught my attention the most was when Stephanopoulos asked: "One year ago you were just about to take the oath of office. And now you get this anniversary present from the voters of Massachusetts. Um, Robert Gibbs was saying you were surprised and frustrated by the vote. Is that accurate?"
Barack Obama said on the You Tube video, "Certainly, I think a lot of us were surprised about where this was going, about a week ago. Here's my assessment of not just the vote in Massachusetts, but the mood around the country: The same thing that swept Brown into office swept me into office. People are angry and frustrated."
Then the video went to the next question.
On ABC's site, however, after the word "frustrated", Obama also said the following: "Not just because of what happened in the last year or two years, but what's happened over the last eight years."
Last eight years? Is that a reference to George W. Bush? Is Obama blaming voter anger on Bush?
Okay, using Obama's logic, that would mean to show their anger against Bush the voters in the bluest of blue states decided to vote in a Republican.
Yeah, makes a heck of a lot of sense, doesn't it?
Is that why the "blame Bush" part was cut out of the You Tube video? Did ABC realize the idiocy of Obama's statement?
Barack Obama has been in "blame Bush" mode for so long, it rolls naturally off his tongue, apparently.
Of course this does not mean that Obama, and his liberal gang of idiots, will back off their agenda. After all, Pelosi said that health care will get passed, "One way or another."
