The tale of Rifqa Bary began when she converted from Islam to Christianity. Her Muslim father threatened to kill her, so she fled, only to be told that the system may need to turn her back over to her parents, where Bary knew she would surely be killed.
A court settlement is going to allow Rifqa to remain free from the fear of death at the hands of her Muslim parents, allowing her to stay in a foster home under state custody until the age of 18, at which time she will be an adult and free to live where she chooses.
