Saturday Political Pistachio Radio Surprise

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Saturday, January 8, 2010 was a special day for the Political Pistachio Radio Revolution. After nearly four years of broadcasting, on Saturday we were celebrating the 600th episode of the Internet radio program. As the show commenced, however, something was very different. There was a very large number of guests in the chat room.

After the show was over, I checked the live listener number, and it was three times its normal number.

At the time, I wondered why so many people who are not BlogTalkRadio subscribers were listening.

On Sunday morning, I received my answer.

I received an E-mail that asked if I could forward to the sender an MP3 of the episode because he was unable to listen to the show because his computer couldn't pull up the show. He then indicated that he had heard about my show because it got mentioned on KFI AM 640 at some point during their Saturday programming.

KFI is the largest talk station in the Los Angeles area (and probably all of Southern California), and is the same station that broadcasts the Rush Limbaugh Show.

I have not been able to confirm the claim by the E-mailer, but if it's true, it would explain the sudden jump in live listenership for my 600th episode on Saturday.
