Putin Brushes Aside Threats from White House

By Douglas V. Gibbs

The Washington Times says, "President Obama warned Russia on Monday of possible U.S. sanctions over its military land grab in Ukraine, but Moscow brushed aside international threats, tightening its stranglehold on Crimea and calling audaciously for a national unity government in Kiev."

That is because Russia knows that Obama talks a good talk, and does nothing to back it.  The administration is in the process of weakening our military, and Russia and China knows they can do pretty much anything they want and the Obama administration will bark and bark, but do nothing, and ultimately, in the end, will try to appease Russia in a Neville Chamberlain style.

Understand, I don't believe we should be involved.  This is a foreign entanglement that does not concern us, but the very reason it is happening is because this administration is perceived as weak, and intent on knocking America down a few notches.  Of course, when weakness is exhibited, those that oppose us will take advantage to expand, to do as they please, and to lead the world down a path that will ultimately lead to war.  Our greatest weapon against international tyranny is peace through strength, not by attacking whenever possible, but showing that you can attack and would win with ease by the mere show of superiority.

The big kid doesn't get into many fights in school.  Everyone knows he would win with ease.  However, the moment he shows a weakness, an ability to be beaten, the wannabes start lining up, hoping to be the one to bring him down.  It is true in nature, and it is true in international politics.

And, yes, I know about the deal we made with the Ukraine to protect them if they got rid of their nukes.  We made that promise at a time when we were capable, and willing, to protect them.  Now, from a position of weakness, if Obama and Britain even tries to do something about this, it could start a worldwide war.
