Harry Reid Vows to Stop Freedom of Speech, Koch Brothers

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Few things strikes anger in liberal left democrats than the money the Koch Brothers pumps into the Republican Party.  Koch Industries is the second largest privately owned company in the United States, and the owners are not liberal.  Brothers Charles and David are large donors to the GOP, and the only source of money going into the Republican Party that compares to the funding being pumped into the Democrat Party by unions, and wealthy liberals like Warren Buffet, George Soros, and Bill Gates.

The ultimate goal of the progressives in the Democrat Party is not simply to dominate the political environment, but to silence and destroy all opposition.  The liberal left believes that with Barack Obama as president, they have turned the corner, and that their ascendancy can now not be stopped by a divided conservative right.  The leftists have become more bold, revealing who they really are, admitting that their brand of big government is in the same league with socialists and communists throughout history.  Few obstacles stand in the way, they believe, but their strategy of personal destruction against anyone who poses a threat has worked well against individuals, and groups like the Tea Party.  The Koch Brothers, however, refuse to be weakened so easily.

As the result of a tax manipulations package (not tax cuts as the democrats are advertising, but more of a redirection of revenue) that extends for another two years breaks for people like teachers who buy their own supplies in the classroom and student loans, Harry Reid is demanding that Congress be able to take a jab at Freedom of Speech, and more specifically, act in a manner not consistent with the courts.  Normally, the liberal democrats consider case law, and rulings by the federal court system, to be the rule of law, rather than applying that label to the law itself, and the United States Constitution, as originally intended.  The Citizens United case did not go in favor of the democrats, which also upheld the 1976 Buckley v. Valeo decsion.  So, since they don't help the liberal left cause, they should be eliminated, and ignored, claims the democrats as they cherry-pick their way through court decisions.

How can they apply the final blows to the GOP if the Koch Brothers keep supplying money to the republicans?

All of this follows a string of moves by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid that also has been disallowing the House of Representatives to amend a number of bills that come to them from the Senate.

It is as if Harry is saying, "My way or the highway."

Never mind checks and balances, or debate in a representative legislature.

Reid is also calling for a constitutional amendment, to stop the Koch Brothers for good, claiming their political interests are actually in the interest of greed in order to make themselves richer.

The constitutional amendment the democrats plan to propose would overturn those court decisions, putting a stop to conservative funding, while the democrats continue to launder money through the labor unions.

Mr. Reid and his fellow Democrats say the government should have the ability to decide who can spend money in elections and how much they are allowed to spend.

The proposed Amendment would never receive the 2/3 vote needed from either House, much less the 3/4 votes needed from the States for ratification - but the democrats are pushing forward anyhow, likely to use the result of the vote as a tool to try and convince more ill-informed voters of the myth that republicans are only for the rich.
