And the purge begins:
The embattled chief of the Ferguson, Mo. police department has resigned, effective next week, as part of a "mutual separation" between him and the city, the Ferguson council said Wednesday.
Tom Jackson's resignation, which is effective next Thursday, is the latest leadership shakeup in the city following a scalding federal probe into its police force and court system....
The announcement comes one week after a Department of Justice report, prompted by the shooting of an "unarmed" black teenager and subsequent public protests, found widespread targeting of African-Americans in the city, and one day after the city's manager stepped down amid allegations of racial bias in the city's municipal court.
In short, the Ferguson PD - in fact, the entire municipal government of Ferguson, Missouri - is now being run out of the Holder Injustice, Revenge & Coverup Commissariat. It's difficult to draw any other conclusion, particularly in light of Chief Jackson's frequent public declarations that he wouldn't resign. The public spin was that this was a "mutual" decision, but the timing is so ludicrously suspicious that everybody knows that he was fired, and that Eric "The Red" was the judge, jury, and executioner.
It's almost as if Ferguson is the only town Holder managed to conquer, so he's going to take out his frustrations at being unable to impose a bigger secret police footprint on the principles therein.
Not that they won't keep trying to expand said footprint. But that will be little solace for the injustice perpetrated upon Chief Jackson. the city manager, and others to come.
And let's not forget ex-cop Darren Wilson, blessedly not prosecuted at the local or federal level for the "crime" of defending himself against a murderous assailant, but having to look over his shoulder for himself and his family for the rest of their lives.
All I can conclude is this, gentles: Based upon the past seven months, if there's any community in this country where "racial profiling" is more justified than in Ferguson, Missouri, I'm at a loss to say what it is. And regardless, that will pale in comparison to the white racial profiling that is already underway.
