Voter fraud, apparently, is not enough. Illegal immigration, evidently, is not enough. So now, Barack Obama is going to force every Democrat voter to the polls to guarantee that his party never loses another election:
Barack Obama is floating the idea of making it mandatory to vote in the United States.
Obama is discussing voting rights and campaign finance in an appearance at the City Club of Cleveland. He says the U.S. should be making it easier — not harder — to vote.
Like it's difficult now? Or, rather, like it's difficult for minorities and the dead? Because it's supposed to be prohibitive for white voters and anybody else who might vote Republican. Otherwise the Black Panthers wouldn't have to deploy goon squads to their polling places.
And yet Democrats still occasionally lose, so it's obviously still not "easy" enough. Although how does forcing people to vote make it "easier"? Which indicates that it's not about the convenience of the voter, but about the results of the vote he/she casts.
[Obama] is noting that countries like Australia have mandatory voting. He says if everyone voted in the U.S., it would completely change the political map.
Obama says it would be "transformative" and would counteract the influence of [GOP] money in politics more than anything else. [emphasis added]
It's not about voting, in other words, it's about voting Democrat. And he plans on so stacking the deck in favor of the Left that America will become The New Soviet Union in everything but name.
What, you may be asking, is the track record of "free" countries making voting mandatory? Answer, per John Fund? Not good:
When it comes to voting, only eleven nations in the world actually enforce laws requiring people to vote. Several nations have tried them and dropped the idea, including Chile, Fiji, and Italy, which rescinded the policy in 1993. “There was finally a consensus that it was a basic infringement of freedom,” says Antonio Martino, a former Italian foreign minister. “Forcing people to vote violates their freedom of speech, because the freedom to speak includes the right not to speak.” [emphasis added]
And we all know that Democrats never let freedom and liberty and the Constitution whose purpose is to preserve, protect, and defend them get in the way of their relentless, maniacal quest for total power.
Concludes Mr. Fund:
Mr. President, we wouldn’t be America anymore with forced voting and people fined or jailed for using the First Amendment to express political views.
And that, sir, is the whole point. Why do you think he used the term "transformative"?
