Two Ferguson Cops Shot During Overnight "Protest"

#Cops'LivesDon'tMatter

Because, you see, to not stand passively back and allow the "protestors" to shoot them would have been "racist":

Two police officers from St. Louis County are in serious condition with non-life threatening injuries after being shot while on duty in Ferguson, Missouri, early Thursday morning.

One officer from St. Louis County was hit in the shoulder, the other, an officer from Webster Groves was shot in the face. Authorities say the two officers were standing next to each other, working crowd control outside of the Ferguson Police Department when the incident occurred right around midnight.

Police say three shots were fired from near a group of protesters at a line of officers. One officer at the scene described the incident to News 4 as an ambush.

“These were shots that were parallel to the ground, not up in the air, they were not skip shots. I would have to make an assumption that these shots were directed exactly at my police officers,” said St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar.

Belmar described the officer’s injuries as serious gunshot wounds. Both officers were conscious when they were rushed to the hospital.

"Ambush," anyone?  Although a prerequisite for a typical ambush is the element of surprise, and no police officer anywhere near Riot Central has any excuse not to expect to be shot at from the local insurrectionary populace.

What I find completely unsurprising is that even though the "protesters" are being given everything they said they wanted - well, not death of every police officer, but other than that - by the Obama Regime, the wholesale purge of the "racist" city government of Ferguson, that isn't enough for them:

[St. Louis County Police Chief] Belmar said the shots were fired from across Florissant Road, northwest of the police department. Witnesses said the shots appeared to come from the direction of a block of homes on Tiffin Avenue that intersects South Florissant Road, where the police department is located.

Bradley Rayford, a freelance journalist who has been reporting from Ferguson since the unrest began there last summer, said he saw three or four muzzle flashes from the crest of Tiffin Hill, a residential neighborhood with large century-old homes.

He was in front of the police line on South Florissant at the time. He said he couldn’t tell if the shots were being fired from a vehicle.

The protesters seemed to be two camps. The first were there to make a point that they weren’t satisfied with the resignations of City Manager John Shaw and Police Chief Thomas Jackson. They were chanting in unison.

The other one was volatile, angry, hurling profanities at the police, media and other protesters. Some skirmishes broke out among the factions.

At least two people were taken into custody, but those arrests occurred before the gunfire erupted.

Let's make sure everybody understands this: The "camp" "making the point" that the Obama purge of Ferguson city government isn't good enough are the moderates in this equation.  The radicals are waging literal guerrilla war against law enforcement.  And both are being encouraged, aided, and abetted by the Obama Regime.

The bad news?  Ferguson cops went on another "racist" rampage by taking three of the shooters into custody this morning:

Officers swarmed a home in Ferguson Thursday morning in a search for those responsible for the shooting of two police officers outside the Ferguson police department about midnight.

Tactical officers surrounded a brick bungalow on Dade Avenue near Tiffin Avenue. The home is about four blocks west of the police department. Officers went in with dogs about 9:30 a.m. A neighbor said he saw police bring two men out of the home . The woman who neighbors say rents the home was also brought out in handcuffs.

The neighbor also heard police talk of a third man hiding in the attic. Police later tried to enter the attic from the roof but were beginning to wrap up about 10:15 a.m. without bringing anyone else out.

Now they've done it.  Cops aren't allowed to enforce the law against black people.  If the entire city of St. Louis isn't burned to the ground by the weekend, it will be a minor miracle.

UPDATE: Round two of the Ferguson Insurrection escalates.
