Bio Of JASmius

Jim Sondergeld is “JASmius”. A handle so derived from a combination of his initials and the ecto-persona of Vlad Plasmius, the principle antagonist in the old Danny Phantom cartoon on Nickelodeon, because (1) he has a weakness for super-powered geniuses/billionaires/playboys/philanthropists – if he’d thought of it five years later he’d be known as “JAStark” – and (2) see his last name.

Jim is not an activist, he’s a commentator. His querulous-but-quirky right-wing rants and snarks have appeared in publications ranging from the Wenatchee High School Apple Leaf to the Wenatchee World to the Spokane Spokesman-Review to the Tri-City Herald to the Tacoma News-Tribune. In 1992 he discovered the lethal combination of the personal computer and the CompuServe Information Service and its political debate forums, where the Legend of JASmius was born and grew to such proportions that by 1999 its Republican Forum had no choice but to bring him onto its staff as first a Section Leader, then a SysOp (moderator), and finally a WizOp (administrator) in quick succession. By 2004 the Legend of JASmius grew larger still, overtopping republicanforum.com to spill out into the new-fangled blogosphere, which begat the Hard Starboard blog that, in two different incarnations, was a fixture of the right-o-sphere for over seven years. In 2007, at the inspiration and invitation of current hotair.com senior editor Ed Morrissey, Jim added a podcasting wing to the Hard Starboard empire, and thus was born the popular Hard Starboard Radio Network podcast on blogtalkradio.com, and now on YouTube, which still airs at 6PM Eastern/3PM Pacific weekdays.

In 2008, in an act of unmistakably divine serendipity, Jim was contacted out of the clear blue sky by one John Barnhart about becoming a contributor to a right-of-center webzine he was starting called americandailyreview.com. This online publication just happened to have as its other co-founder and senior editor a gentleman named Douglas V. Gibbs. Within a year Jim pitched the idea of adding a podcast arm to the webzine, and thus emerged American Daily Review Radio, also on blogtalkradio.com, and also now on YouTube. Originally to be co-hosted by Messrs. Barnhart and Gibbs, ADR quickly evolved, due to unfortunate circumstances that forced John’s withdrawal, into its current form, with Jim joining his unique “poor man’s Rush Limbaugh” insightfulness, irreverence, and eloquence with Mr. Gibbs' elite interview skills and unparalleled constitutional expertise to create a radio synthesis far greater than the sum of its parts. Kind of like Reese’s peanut butter cups: two great tastes that taste great together.

It was thus inevitable that American Daily Review grew into Constitution Radio on KCAA AM-1050 in August of 2011, and its new home on KMET AM-1490 in May of 2015, where Jim serves as both co- and backup host. Beginning in September 2013 Jim became a full-time co-blogger at Political Pistachio, thus gaining exposure for his maunderings at such right-o-spheric bastions as Before It’s News and Canada Free Press. Jim is also a senior contributor to Constitution News Quarterly.

Jim is a follower of a Jewish carpenter, the 26-year husband of Jan, the father of the grown Melissa and Daniel, a charter-member Reagan conservative, and a seat cushion for S’Mores The Wonder Kitty....

....in that specific order. As he says, “The Constitution is the context of conservatism”. A slogan, along with "The Local Show With The Global Footprint," that he will eventually copyright, if Mr. Gibbs doesn’t beat him to it.
