The Return Of The Living Huck

by JASmius

Well, he did say that he wouldn't "make a decision about running until late in the spring of 2015".  And here we are, and he's about to make the decision that we always knew he would:

The word “president” isn’t uttered here but the subject line of the e-mail from his website containing the link to this clip was “Announcement video” and there’s a countdown clock on the homepage marking the hours until Tuesday’s “event” in Arkansas. He’s in.

Like he was ever not going to be.  But which Huck will we be getting?  The statist preacher of 2008 or the fiscal apocalypse-embracing sexual libertine warming up in the Little Rock bullpen?:

What’s missing from this vid, though? It’s got plenty to offer the blue-collar Republicans whom Huckabee’s targeting — promises of wage growth, a solemn vow to protect America’s unsustainable entitlements, and a little saber-rattling at ISIS and other jihadi[st] menaces. But … not a word about gay marriage, abortion, or religious liberty. The furthest he goes is noting that he’ll “lead with moral clarity”. [emphasis added]

Guess what, socon Huckalytes?  Your "pastor" now takes you for granted and is off to pander to the the pole-smokers, carpet-munchers, baby-killers, and Christian-persecutors, all as the country's economic walls come a-tumblin' down like the walls of Jericho themselves.  If this doesn't teach my wayward brothers and sisters about the folly of single-issue candidacies, I don't know what will.

On the bright side, of course, this further packs the RINO side of the nominating stable, a welcome development after the clutter on the "light side" caused by the ego-trips of Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and Marco Rubio (I know, he's kind of in no-man's land, but I had to put him someplace).  Though I'm still dreading what the sight of that enormous debate stage packed to overflowing with GOP presidential "hopefuls" will do to my blood pressure.

Eeyore speculates that Huckles is really running for vice president, but I can't imagine Governor Walker having any use for him, myself.
