Israel Issues Its Own Gaza War Report

by JASmius

That's another thing I like so much about the Israelis under Likudnik leadership: They always shoot first:

Israel issued a report on Sunday arguing its 2014 Gaza offensive was lawful, a move aimed at pre-empting the release of findings of a U.N. war crimes investigation that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu scorned as a waste of time.

The 277-page report, which cited Israel's internal probes and statements from Western leaders backing its right to self-defense, suggested the Netanyahu government hoped to defuse criticism from the U.N. Human Rights Council (HRC) inquiry in advance.

The right to national self-defense is, of course, explicitly written into the UN charter itself.  Article 51 clearly states....:

Nothing in the present Charter shall impair the inherent right of collective or individual self-defence if an armed attack occurs against a member of the United Nations, until the Security Council has taken the measures necessary to maintain international peace and security. [emphasis added]

The latter of which has never, EVER taken place because that would have required the "international community" to eradicate Hamas, and - now - the entire Security Council is pro-Hamas and Jew-hatingly, "Final Solution"-lustingly anti-Israel.  Ergo, no "measures necessary to maintain international peace and security" in the Holy Land have ever been taken, and thus Israel is empowered - by international law - to undertake them itself.

A 277-page report to redundantly restate this should not be necessary.  But that's the mad, mad, mad, mad world in which we live.

Deeming the HRC biased, Israel boycotted its investigators as it did those from the council who looked into its 2008-09 Gaza offensive. That HRC inquiry accused Israel of war crimes.

For exercising its Article 51 UN charter rights, to which the Jews are evidently not entitled in the "Acme Disappearing/Reappearing Ink" fine print.

Launched last July after a surge of cross-border rocket fire by Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups, Israel's fifty days of shelling, air strikes and ground incursions in the congested enclave killed more than 2,256 Palestinians, including 1,563 civilians, a U.N. report said in March....

The new Israeli government report disputed the U.N. figures, saying confirmed non-combatants made up 36% of the Palestinian dead and many militants were misidentified as civilians.

"Harm to the civilian population also occurred as the result of unfortunate - yet lawful [under Article 51] - incidental effects of legitimate military action in the vicinity of civilians and their surroundings, and as a result of the inescapable constraint of commanders not being infallible, intelligence not being perfect and technological systems sometimes failing," the document said.

Because fighting the IDF legitimately would have gotten just Hamas decimated, so they had to take vast numbers of "Palestinian" human shields down with them.  Because the war Hamas is fighting is only superficially military.  Because jihadist cowardice is supposed to require meek Israeli acquiescence to their own people's piecemeal slaughter.

Happily, Prime Minister Netanyahu says, "שורחרא!"

"Whoever wants to continue with baseless blaming of the State of Israel, let them waste time reading the report by the U.N. commission. We, for our part, will continue protecting our soldiers. They will continue protecting us," he said.

And all the people said, "AMEN!"
