Those who desire to deconstruct the original intent of the United States Constitution claim it is a "racist" document made by racist old white men. The opposition of the Constitution claims the 3/5's clause as their evidence regarding the racism of the Founding Fathers. The 3/5's Clause, however, had nothing to do with racism, and everything to do with math, and ensuring the minimum number of States necessary to ratify the Constitution was reached.
