School District Threatens to Turn Over Children to The State

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Controlling your kids through the school system is the goal of the liberal left.  According to Hillary Clinton, you can't be trusted to properly raise your children.  It takes a village.  That is one of the drives behind the new Common Core standards, and the "Rights of the Children" U.N. initiative.  There is a battle for your children, and the statists are currently making gains in that fight.

In Salem, Oregon, parents were alarmed when Swegle Elementary School sent home a letter urging parents to be prompt and punctual when picking their children up at the end of the school day.  In the third paragraph of the letter, parents read, "Children must be picked up on time. If they are not picked up on time we will call DHS and you will then have to pick them up at court the next day." DHS is the Oregon Department of Human Services.

According to the school district, the letter was a mistake, and the principal of the school had not reviewed it before it was sent out.  An apology by telephone was sent out to all of the parents.

One's first thought may be, "Why would anyone, even if it is an office person fairly low on the scale of seniority, send out such a threat?"

We live in an age where the central government is consolidating power.  We have been told to pay attention to our neighbors and friends, make sure they are not verbalizing unacceptable hate speech.  The IRS has targeted the administration's opposition, and a quick lie about losing all of the emails have thrown Americans off of the scent of tyranny.  We have created a society where Child Protective Services is untouchable, and due process for parents, if accused of anything considered unacceptable by the powers that be, no longer exists.  People riot if they think their group has been wronged, or sue business owners into bankruptcy if the bakery won't bake a particular cake.  We sue over sidewalk cracks and hot coffee in our laps.  With all of that going on, why wouldn't some office person assume the government can be used to confiscate children if they aren't picked up in time?

A sign of the times.  A sign that we have become too comfortable with a ruling elite over us, dictating and mandating.  Hey, it's for the common good, right?

We are the products of central planning by a ruling elite that thinks they know more than we do, and unfortunately, many of us have accepted that to be the truth.

Restoration of the Republic begins with acknowledgement of what we are up against, and understanding how far the poison of statism has spread.  Then, we must take action to correct it.
