I suppose the vast underground complex of bunkers in which they're housed was technically secret. I'm going to guess that U.S. "intelligence" - the same outfit that leftwingnuts spent the entirety of the Bush years crapping on for getting Iraqi WMDs wrong (which they did, but not in the way pro-jihadist animals like Barack Obama insisted), and now the same same outfit that is tasked with detecting Iranian cheating that the lopsidedness of O's nuclear "deal" makes practically impossible - had no idea they or their contents existed, but it's not like the specter of the mullahs already having deployed and in place short-, medium-, and intercontinental-range missiles - undoubtedly nuclear-capable - is any kind of surprise to anybody who's been willing to pay attention to this whole sordid process and take the mullahs' daily "DEATH TO AMERICA!" vows at face value. A classic case of words being backed up by deeds.
But (heh), "make no mistake," this "revelation" is the Iranians getting in on "Let's humiliate Barry" Week:
Iran has secret bunkers deep underground packed with ballistic missiles and launchers to be used if "enemies make a mistake," state television said while broadcasting unprecedented footage of one such tunnel.
The pictures were released on Wednesday just three days after Iran tested a new long-range missile that the United States said may have breached a UN Security Council resolution, reported news service AFP.
No "may have" about it. Of course it's a breach. They're proud of it. They want everybody - and especially us and the Israelis - to know about it. They're rubbing our noses in it. If this was the NFL, the mullahs would be buried under yellow (or, for two more weeks, pink) hankies for multiple unsportsmanlike conduct penalties for excessive end zone celebrating.
Parenthetically, you know my pet peeve about pundits referring to the mullahs as trying to build "a nuclear bomb" - singular - when they are building the biggest stockpile of warheads they possibly can? Think only one of those ballistic missiles is for "a" nuke and the rest are earmarked for deployment as mullahgarchic lawn ornaments?
Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the Islamic [Empire]'s Revolutionary Guards' aerospace division, said numerous such tunnels exist across the country at a depth of five hundred metres.
"The Islamic [Empire]'s long-range missile bases are stationed and ready under the high mountains in all the country’s provinces and cities," he said, according to the Guards' website.
The commander said the missiles were ready to be launched from all over Iran, on the order of "the supreme commander-in-chief", Ayatollah Ali Khamenei....
"Those who pin hope on options on the table, should only have a look at the Islamic [Empire]'s army options under the table."
Hajizadeh said Iran would not start any war but "if enemies make a mistake, missile bases will erupt like a volcano from the depths of Earth".
Spittle-flecked bluster? Sure. Exaggerated bluff? Mayhap it is, mayhap it isn't. Can we take that chance given that they probably already have nuclear weapons? Nope. Is that the very same deterrence factor that Barack Obama has forfeited for the United States? Indeed, it is. Are the mullahs practically telling us that they're going to wipe us out? You better believe it.
Has the Obama Regime belatedly seen the light and begun mobilizing its military resources to try and salvage something from this gigantic debacle?
Please:
Under a resolution passed days after the nuclear deal was reached, Iran was barred by the Security Council from developing missiles "designed to carry nuclear warheads".
However the White House insisted the launch would have no impact on the nuclear agreement which is due to be formally implemented by the end of this year.
Even if Barack Obama wasn't a pro-jihadist/pro-Iranian traitor, he would still do or say nothing that would so much as muss a figurative hair on the head of his foreign policy "masterpiece," because every last giga-parsec of his stupendous ego is invested in it. For O to acknowledge that the mullahs are already pissing in our faces while laughing hysterically at us - just like the Russians, the Cubans, the ChiComms, the NoKos, etc. - reverse course and proceed accordingly would be to admit that he was <GASP> wrong. Wrong about the mullahs, wrong about their trustworthiness, wrong about their intentions, wrong about diplomacy as an end in itself, wrong about the entire Middle East, wrong about his entire foreign policy vision....wrong, wrong wrong. The One would rather die and take all three hundred-plus million of us to hell with him rather than make such an admission.
Put another way, his hubris requires him to make Doomsday happen. And the Iranians have just showed the world that they have more than sufficient means - thanks to Barack Hussein Obama.
Exit question: I wonder - do the Iranians have American and Israeli city names stenciled on each missile, like the Red Skull did his Tesseract-powered attack craft in Captain America: The First Avenger? I would.
