Today's sign that the Apocalypse is upon us:
There are so many things wrong with this ad that get completely obscured by its citing of President Bush as a positive (i.e. ignorant dhimmi) role model that it's difficult to know where to begin.
It's clearly not intended to make Dubya look good, but to make the current crop of Republican presidential candidates look even worse than Dems spent the previous decade trying to depict him. As in, "See, even Bushitler wasn't the genocidal Islamophobe these guys are". But, again, a Democrat ad saying nice things about George W. Bush is so gobsmackingly jaw-dropping that that effect gets completely lost in the astonishment.
Mr. Griswold zeroes in on the incredible tone-deafness of the ad's timing:
Literally any other time of the year, voters might have just rolled their eyes at the unbearable PC-ness of it all. But the DNC ad comes after a series of major terrorist attacks across the globe… and after Barack Obama gave a [sneering] speech in response that left the impression that he was more fired up about attacking his domestic critics than taking on ISIS. To attack Republicans for “inciting fear” about Islam in the wake of nonstop news about Islamic terror is just an unbelievable misfire.
It's like I keep saying, folks: Fear is a rational reaction to demonstrably real threats. Muslim terrorists are slaughtering non-Muslims in droves on a regular, escalating, functionally unopposed (at least by the U.S.) basis, before the eyes of the entire world, loudly and proudly proclaim that they are doing so and why, and American leftwingnuts, led by their Islamocommunist demigod, defend the Muslim terrorists, insist they're not what they are, and attack Republicans for pointing out the obvious.
How obvious is it? 56% of Democrats now concede that we're at war with Islamic Fundamentalism.
This ad isn't a "misfire"; it's zealotry run amok. It's mental derangement. It's insanity.
And the biggest irony of it all is that all the Republican presidential candidates cited are themselves getting it wrong by conceding the false distinction between Islam and "radical" Islam, when in fact no such distinction exists. There are passive jihadists and there are violent jihadists, but EVERY Muslim is a jihadist because the Qu'ran commands every Muslim to participate in the jihad. It's not unlike how not every American took up arms against the Nazis and Imperial Japan during World War II, but all of America was at war with both. Not every Muslim has to blow up soccer stadiums or storm luxury hotels or fly hijacked airliners into skyscrapers or set off suitcase nukes in metropolitan central business districts, but if even 10% of the world's billion-plus Muzzies deploy as violent jihadists - which is the rule of thumb percentage - that's a horde a hundred million strong. So even if there was a distinction between Islam and "radical" Islam, it would be, in practical terms, worthless.
And besides, look what nineteen of them "accomplished" fourteen years, two months, and nine days ago: a 150 to one kill ratio. Apply that ratio to the above number and you get....well, Armageddon. Which is appropriate, because that's the direction in which we're heading, courtesy of the Obama Doctrine.
Refusing to defend the American people against clear and present dangers isn't presidential either, assholes. That's the only thing of substance your stupid ad did manage to communicate.
