Graham Ledger's Constitutional Prowess

Graham Ledger is a television host on One America News Network.  His show is called The Daily Ledger.  He was the Riverside County Republican Party Liberty Dinner's keynote speaker on Saturday night at the Casino Morongo Conference Center.

I had the opportunity to exchange words with him prior to the event, and I gave him a compliment, saying, "Aside from Mark Levin, you are the most constitutional media pundit out there."

He responded, "I am a constitutionalist because of Mark Levin."

During his speech he touched on Article V., stating that he believed a convention of states was an important tool in our arsenal when it comes to the battle to get America back on a constitutional path.

While I also support the idea of utilizing an Article V. Convention to get amendments in place that the Congress would never consider proposing, I am also aware of the fears many people have regarding the process.  In our current political environment there are a number of dirty rotten scoundrels out there willing and able to use their wealth and power to hijack and bastardize an Article V. strategy.  I get it.  It's a scary tactic that could be used for evil should the liberal left lunatics find a way to make it a runaway convention.

The truth is, the liberal left strong arm crowd is a threat to anything we try to do.  Should we then be paralized from doing anything due to our fear of them sneaking in and grabbing the reins?  Is the suggestion by those who fear a runaway convention that we do nothing?

While I believe an Article V. Convention is a legitimate strategy we should consider moving towards, I also agree with nullification, and Republic Review (an audit of the federal government by the State legislatures).

On the way out of the casino I bumped into Graham Ledger again.  I thanked him for his speech, and thanked his girlfriend for putting up with him.  She laughed.

I then thanked Ledger for bringing up Article V. in his speech.  We discussed the issue for a moment.

Then, I told him that Article V. also provides language outlawing the blanket requirement that all States abide by the 17th Amendment.  Article V. indicates that States cannot constitutionally lose their equal suffrage in the Senate without their consent.  That means any State that never ratified the 17th Amendment should not be required to operate within the amendment's provisions in regards to how a Senator may be assigned to a seat in the U.S. Senate.

He began to balk, but as I described it, he began to see what I mean.

I then thanked him again for his part in making America constitutional again, and bid him farewell.

He has my business card.  I gave it to him after our first conversation before the event began.
