As a fan of the first Red Dawn movie, I have been anticipating the oft delayed remake that is now slated on hitting the theaters November 2nd of this year. While checking on if there was any recent news on it, I came across this:

Constitutional Conservative Responds to Liberal in Newspaper Letter Regarding First Amendment's Religious Freedom Clause
I teach Constitution Classes a couple times a week in the Temecula Area. On Thursday Nights we meet at Faith Armory on Enterprise Circle West, and on Tuesday Nights in Calvary Chapel Murrieta's Spanish Ministry Room (note, we will not meet this Tuesday because of a Teacher's Meeting, but will resume the following Tuesday). Both Classes begin at 6:00 pm.
Jane, who has been in the Temecula Class for a couple years, largely because she assists me when it comes to the part of organizing the meetings, among other things, has learned a lot, and tells me all the time how happy she is to have learned what she has learned from me.
She sent me this Email, today, and let me tell you how thrilled I was to read it. This is why I teach these classes. This is the reason I fight for the Constitution. Education about the Constitution is a large part of how we will be able to take back this country.

Hi Doug and class,
The blue link below, will take you to a letter that, an obvious Socialist and obama lover wrote, that appeared in the Californian today. It is titled "Women Should Be Outraged". This guy is mad at the Republicans for the fuss they are making over the birth control issue and thinks they are intruding on church issues (obama isn't?). He sites the First Amendment, but, only used the first phrase "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion", but, neglects to state the rest of it "or prohibiting the free exercise, thereof". When I read his statement that "President Obama is following the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights", I almost fell off my chair and had to calm down my heart.
For those of you who don't receive the Californian, or haven't seen this letter, I just wanted to pass the information on to you and give you the opportunity to respond, if you would like to and to see what kind of voters are in our midst. Scary, isn't it? This is why it is so important for all of us to learn about the Constitution and it's original intent and to try to educate people.

Bill Wasley (letters Friday, March 2, 2012) is upset with the Republicans regarding their attitude toward birth control and women’s rights. He used the First Amendment as his argument that the Republicans are over-stepping their bounds and getting involved with religious issues. He sited a line from the First Amendment “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion…”, but, omitted “…or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”. He stated that “it prohibits the government from endorsing religion in general or one set of religious beliefs (birth control), which is exactly what the Republicans are doing”. Is Obamacare not “prohibiting the free exercise thereof” by mandating that the Catholic Church include birth control in their insurance policies, which goes against their ideology and the separation of church and state (state meaning the Federal Government)? Why is it acceptable for Obama to intrude on religious beliefs? The Tenth Amendment states “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people”. Please show me, where in the Constitution, it states that the Federal Government can mandate healthcare and birth control? Mr. Wasley is selectively misdirected.

Liberals Are Setting Women Up For Failure

If one only listens to the bullet points, one gets with the impression that liberals are the most compassionate people on the face of the Earth. Forget that that compassion is with other people’s money and the sweat of other people’s brows. It is only when you dare to delve a little bit past the headlining talking points that the real horror that is their ideology is revealed. Pick any issue you like. It does not matter. All the sugar coating in the world cannot cover up the bitter fruit that liberals really pedal. Sadly, it is true. The self-professed champions of the downtrodden, the poor, racial minorities, women and any other group they think they can get away with exploiting do nothing but set them up for further failure. All one has to do is be willing to look at the results of their proposals.
Case and point? The United States Department of Labor is focused like an environmentally friendly laser beam on helping women find “higher paying jobs in the clean energy economy.”[1] Ah yes, those compassionate liberals. They have nothing but the interest of women at heart. Right?
The specific initiative is called, “Why Green is Your Color: A Woman's Guide to a Sustainable Career”. It was launched in Portland, Oregon this week. But I do wonder something. During this presentation, was there any mention about how unsustainable careers in the “green” sector are? Was there any reference or warning made to the women they claim to want to help that this choice of careers is probably only going to lead them to painful heartache?
The list of failed or failing “sustainable” energy companies is growing by the day. From Solyndra to Ener1 to Beacon Power to Abound Solar to Nevada Geothermal Power to SpectraWatt to Eastern Energy to Fisker Automotive to Sun Power to First Solar to Amonix to A123 Systems, the list is so long that it is an embarrassment. All of these “sustainable” companies, promoted by our federal government and propped up with tax payer dollars for their harebrained schemes, have either gone bankrupt, are going bankrupt or at the very best are staying afloat by casting off deadweight and laying off workers. So you see my previous question is a serious one. Did anyone from the government mention to the women who they want to put into “green jobs” at companies like this that after years of training and promises and maybe, luckily, landing a cushy job at one of them, that their world is more than likely to come crashing down around them?
I am sure all sorts of grandiose promises will be made to make the “sustainable” energy field sound swell. Nevertheless, what happens when reality catches up to those both making said promises and those who believed them and invested time and money into becoming proficient in the needs of these businesses? What happens when these women either get a job and then quickly loose it or cannot find a job in the sector at all because there is no more government money left to buoy them and keep their struggling heads above water? Who will be there to pick up the pieces of their shattered hopes and dreams? No doubt, there will be a government initiate to handle that too. You know, like ninety-nine weeks of unemployment to help ease these women down from heights they were talked up to.

Nut: 2008 Republican Presidential Candidate, and U.S. Senator, John McCain: “‘This is like watching a Greek tragedy,’ McCain told the Herald. ‘It’s the negative campaigning and the increasingly personal attacks … it should have stopped long ago. Any utility from the debates has been exhausted, and now it’s just exchanging cheap shots and personal shots followed by super PAC attacks.’
“The Arizona Republican, who endorsed Romney earlier this year and is set to rally with him in Phoenix tonight, said he believes the former Bay State governor will get the nomination, yet he worries a long, drawn out primary campaign could leave Romney too wounded to triumph in November.
“‘I know he’s going to be the nominee but I also worry about how much damage has been done,’ McCain said. ‘I think we still can win. … Once we get this over, the more we’ll be focused on Obama’s failures.’”
Nugget: Though I am not a fan of Romney, what Jay Cost of the Weekly Standard says about Romney’s situation is exactly right, and conservatives have a lot of work to do if they wish to stop Romney from gaining the nomination: “These results strongly suggest that Romney has successfully positioned himself almost exactly in the middle of the Republican electorate. This is far and away his greatest advantage moving forward, as it makes it very difficult for any candidate to forge a voting coalition large enough to topple Romney. Gingrich or Santorum would have to cobble together a strange bedfellows, left-right coalition of the most moderate and most conservative Republicans to defeat him. If you cannot win 50 percent of the vote outright, this is the best way to win – splinter your opposition onto two sides.
“This points to the two major points to draw from yesterday evening. First, Mitt Romney has essentially failed to win a majority, or even an overwhelming plurality of Republican voters to date. His average vote haul in the prior states was roughly in line with what we saw last night in Arizona and Michigan – carrying somewhere around 40 percent of the vote. Second, no candidate has yet found a way to topple him, because the non-Romney voters are divided on opposite sides of him. Thus, while Romney is not going to surge to the nomination as the majority choice of the party, it is very difficult to see how any of the declared candidates topples him.”

Liberal Media: Rick Santorum Wants A Theocracy in America

Rick Santorum is genuinely a man of moral convictions. He is honest, a family man, loves God, and believes this nation's future depends upon how its moral compass is pointing - all of the things the hard liberal left despises. To make matter's worse, as far as the liberal democrats view it, Santorum's call for faith to play an important role in public policy is a call for a theocracy, which really sends the liberal left into a tail-spin. . . until they realized the potential for attacks.
A theocracy would be a government in which God Himself would be the divine leader, and all policies would be based on the leadership's interpretation of what God wants. The only people allowed to hold office would be members of the religious group claiming divine guidance, in the education system all non-religious lessons would be banned, medicine would only allow procedures ordained by the religion, preferential treatment would be given to those that support the church in charge while those opposing the religious ruling class would be branded as seditious, and even terrorists.
Santorum is calling for no such thing.
This nation was founded on liberty. The principles of freedom for the people, and the limitations of government authority, are the bedrock of the foundation of our political system. The First Amendment disallows for the establishment of a religion as an official governmental mandate because the Founding Fathers had had their fill of the Church of England, and other oppressive religious mandates in Europe.
However, the Founding Fathers also recognized the importance of faith in the public square, so in the First Amendment they also indicated that Congress shall make no law prohibiting the free exercise of religion. During the early years of this country, the politicians prayed, and the pastors preached on the issues. The Church did not control the government, and the government did not control the churches. The clergy were clearly political in their messages, and the government leaders were not afraid to reveal they were men of God, but the relationship was symbiotic, unlike the unhealthy systems that plagued Europe where the Kings proclaimed they were divinely appointed, and the churches demanded by penalty of law the full loyalty of the citizens.
In line with the Founding Fathers, Rick Santorum believes faith should play a wider role in public policy. The government has no business telling the church what to do, he claimed at an engagement at the Livonia and Farmington chambers of commerce breakfast, in Michigan. As a strict conservative he believes he should be asking for guidance from The Lord, while faulting the liberal democrats under Obama's direction for marginalizing religion.
"Freedom to worship is not just what you do in the sanctuary, it's how you practice your faith outside of the sanctuary," Santorum said.
"All the reporters in the back will go, `Oh, there's Santorum talking about social issues,'" he added. "No, I'm talking about freedom! This is an election about freedom."
These comments came shortly after his rebuke of John F. Kennedy's 1960 speech about his Catholic faith. In the speech, Kennedy famously said: "I believe in an America where the separation of church and state is absolute."
Santorum said Sunday he "almost threw up" when he read Kennedy's famous speech.
Separation of Church and State isn't even in the Constitution. The modern concept as interpreted by the liberal left is based on a single sentence in a letter from Thomas Jefferson to the Danbury Baptists of Connecticut that was taken completely out of context. The Danbury Baptists, happy to see Jefferson win the presidency because of his involvement in bringing religious freedom to the State of Virginia with the Virginia Religious Freedom Act of 1785, sent Jefferson a letter asking him for his help because in Connecticut the Puritans were enforcing a very strict theocracy. The Danbury Baptists were being treated as second-class citizens, and were not allowed any involvement in the local system of governance. Jefferson responded to their letter in a letter that contained the phrase, "wall of separation between church and state." This sentence has been taken to the far reaches of insanity by those that oppose faith, being twisted into its own secular meaning. What it meant was, This is a State matter, and the federal government can't get involved. This is between you and those running the State of Connecticut.
As a Conservative, Santorum doesn't believe the government should ban birth control, despite his moral convictions that promoting contraceptives influences society in a negative manner, actually encouraging sexual behavior before the wedding bells ring. This is why republicans are against Obama's mandate that pregnancy prevention be covered by insurance. It has nothing to do with whether or not birth control methods should be available to the public, and everything to do with the unconstitutional demand by democrats that government dictate to insurance companies how to run their business. Being against the mandate does not make someone in favor of a theocracy, or show that anybody wants to shove religion down anybody's throat. Simply put, it is the conservative angle that government does not have the authority to go around pushing its own morality, like telling individuals they will have to pay for someone else's sexual impropriety, or that a church must go against its moral beliefs and offer contraceptives and abortion-in-a-pill (morning after pill) whether they like it or not.
If you read the First Amendment carefully, the part about Congress not being able to prohibit the free exercise of religion is all about telling the government that it can't control The Church.
From the liberal point of view, the very mention of God by a politician is a violation of their version of the separation of church and state. The liberal left democrats desire that government be set up on a purely secular platform, where all policies are based on their interpretation of what secularism dictates. It has even been suggested by some of these people that only atheists, or the "non-religious", should be allowed to hold office, because only these people would "do the right thing." The leftists continue to work on banning all non-secular lessons in the education system, banning prayer, and even the mention of anything religious by the school staff. Of course peace signs, and anti-religious icons and lessons are fully acceptable. Evolution has become the sole scientific theory that is allowed to be taught in the public schools, and the very mention of Creationism is met with indignation and law suits. Medicine is now being twisted to force church facilities to offer contraceptives, abortion is being taught as perfectly normal, and pregnancy is being treated by the liberals like it is some kind of disease. Through Obamacare the government will complete its control over medicine, only allowing procedures the secularists in government see as necessary. Obama's policies have also instituted a system where preferential treatment is being given to those businesses and organizations that support the liberals in charge, while those opposing their secular rule are being branded as racist, seditious, and even potential domestic terrorists.
Hmmm. After thinking about how the secular liberal democrats are doing things, it makes you wonder, who really is trying to establish a theocracy?

Without it I would be unable to communicate with loader operators in the quarries, other drivers on the road over conditions of traffic, and so on and so forth. I bounce between half a dozen channels depending on who I am talking to, and where I am at. Sometimes, outside parties are on our channels, and the signal bounce can even carry these messages over great distances. Sometimes they are just chatter, and sometimes you pick up on one side of a conversation that is downright interesting.
The other day I picked up a ghost signal that came in quite clear, and the old guy talking was a trucker for many years, going back to before I was even born. At one point in his conversation he discussed how during the sixties he was an over-the-road driver and often found himself in The South, which was a lot different back then, he said, than it is now.
"One time in Mississippi," he said, "I was on this long, two lane road. It was much like the roads going to nowhere in Tennessee and Kentucky, 'cept this one didn't have cotton up against the short fences along the roadway. When you travel these roads at night, when the fireflies are out, it almost looks like a scene from a space cowboy move. Anyway, on this particular day up the road standing right in the middle of my lane was a lone sheep with a deer-in-the-headlights look on its calm little face. I was fully loaded, and with forty tons of big rig barreling down the highway, it'd take a quarter mile to come to a stop, and this little sheep was much closer than that. A car was on the other side of the road and looked to meet me right about where the sheep was, so I couldn't swerve into the next lane. The shoulder was too small, and soft. My eighty thousand pounds would have no doubt gottten stuck in that soft dirt. I had no choice but to tear into the poor little sheep.
"I still slowed down as much as I could, hopin' that maybe the little guy could survive if I'd slowed down, or perhaps he'd have more time to get out of the way. I blew my horn too, hopin' to scare the fluffy animal out of the way. Unfortunately, I still hit him at a high speed, and he didn't even try to get out of the way.
"When I finally came to a stop, I got out to take a look at what damage the thing caused my truck, plus to see if I was gonna hafta wash off his blood and guts from my truck. But when I got up front, it looked like I had knocked him clear out of his skin. There was no blood, guts, or bones. All that remained of the little guy was stuck to my grill. I pulled it off and was amazed. He turned out to be a mighty fine wool coat."
I let out a quick chuckle. I'd hate to hear him tell a story about driving on the ice roads of Alaska.

Deadly Tornadoes Are Not Done

Faded Truck Brake Knobs
Sometimes, laws are just downright ridiculous. I am sure they have a good reason, in the opinion of the lawmakers, but sometimes I just don't see the logic.
Big rigs use air brake systems. In the cab there are two knobs for applying and releasing the brakes. One is for the truck, and the other is for the trailer. After being out Monday and Tuesday, I returned to my truck and noticed that the yellow knob was new. I joked with the mechanic later about the replaced knob and asked, "Did the guy driving my rig while I was out rip off the old knob, or what?"
The mechanic said, "No, I replaced it because the writing on it was fading."
"Yeah, okay, fine," I said, "but it still functioned just fine."
He added, "You can get a ticket for the writing on the knobs being faded."
Another driver standing nearby said, "It's true. I got one of those tickets."
That's right, as a truck driver we can get a ticket for the writing on the brake knobs being faded. Do they think we need the writing to remember when to pull the knob, or push it?
Strange.
I don't know, perhaps the faded writing is an indicator of wear, or something.

Is North Korea's New Leader Breaking? Agrees to Suspend Nuclear Activity for Food
As its population suffers widespread malnutrition, North Korea has agreed to suspend uranium enrichment and put a moratorium on nuclear and long-range missile tests in exchange for 240,000 metric tons of food and the promise for potentially more to come.
U.S. State Department announced Wednesday that after two days of talks in Beijing last week the North has agreed to allow International Atomic Energy Inspectors to verify and monitor the moratorium on uranium enrichment and confirm disablement of its nuclear reactor at Yongbyon.

Memories of Andrew Breitbart
The death of Andrew Breitbart this morning came as a shock. I first had the opportunity to meet him in 2010 at the Tea Party Express' first stop in Searchlight, Nevada. A genuine person, a giving person, and very approachable. My discussion that day with him included everything from the issues that we face to everyday chit chat. He assisted me also in ensuring that I connected with my good friend, Andrea Shea King, on that day.
He will be missed, not only as a valuable conservative voice, but as a wonderful human being. I only wish that I had had the opportunity to get to know him more.

My answer:
The whole concept of highway funds is unconstitutional in the place. The only authority regarding roadways the federal government has is in Article I, Section 8 where they are given the authority to establish post roads. In fact, James Madison in 1817 vetoed a public works bill because it was unconstitutional to fund roadways and boatways through the federal government. If it is a good idea, then they should have sought an amendment for the authority.
Your bill is an example of the federal government extorting the states. Extortion anywhere else would be illegal, but apparently not when the federal government does it.

Let me add that what the bills are doing is none of the federal governments business, and outside federal authority. These "safety" issues are up to the States individually.

Oil Prices Based on World Market. . . But Obama Doesn't Care About Rising Prices

Though the world market, and factors such as unrest in the Middle East, can affect oil prices, There are things we can to do influence prices. However, Obama's clan is not interested in such.
According to Yahoo News: "President Barack Obama's Secretary of Energy Stephen Chu uttered the kind of Washington gaffe that consists of telling the truth when inconvenient. According to Politico, Chu admitted to a House committee that the administration is not interested in lowering gas prices.
The thing is, as we are being told that the high gas prices are due to Iran's madness, other sources have provided oil to make up for the shortfall. What this means is that the high prices are due to speculation.
There are folks that argue that drilling for oil domestically will do nothing for prices, and it would take years for the work to come to fruition, considering the time it will take to build pipelines, and refineries. But would not the response be immediate because of the speculators taking into account the coming increase of supply? Remember the ol' Supply and Demand thing?
During Reagan's Presidency, the mere threat of local drilling drove down prices.
Obama has no concern over the price of gasoline, and will do nothing about it, because he wants prices to rise. He wants us out of our cars. He sees it as an excuse to make a further drive for green energy.
