Statism: A political system in which the state has substantial centralized control over social and economic affairs.
Statist: An advocate of Statism.
The politicians of the Democrat Party call themselves progressives. By progressive they want you to believe they are the folks who want to enable the United States to progress forward. Progress, they tell you, is about change, abandoning old systems and philosophies for new ones so that society may progress towards an evolution for the better.
The Democrats stole the term "liberal" from the constitutionalists and conservatives at or about the turn of the twentieth century. Before the Democrats seized the term, "Liberal" was defined as meaning "not opposed to new ideas or ways of behaving that are not traditional or widely accepted," which is exactly what the new American System under the U.S. Constitution was, and exactly how the Founding Fathers were considered. The progressives stole the term, and added to it, "believing that government should be active in supporting social and political change : relating to or supporting political liberalism."
In order to achieve progressive or liberal political policies in the modern era the Democrats have had to use authoritarian political principles, making them statists, or advocates of statism. The drive for centralized control through authoritarian governmental policies is nothing new, and in history always fails. Communal systems go against our natural desire for individualism in an attempt to corral people into a collectivist model. Without incentive for individuals, the collective becomes lethargic, and unwilling to produce. People do not operate well in systems designed to only benefit the common good. "What's in it for me," emerges. If one cannot get ahead individually, the drive for doing well is squashed and doused. The system fails because the producers are not willing to produce. The takers eventually outnumber the producers. Producers produce because they desire to accumulate wealth, an activity not allowed in a communal system of equal sharing and "economic justice."
Policy failure has plagued big government advocates, so they moderate, or attempt to hide their true political positions. Misinformation is spread, and empty promises are made. When they begin to lose in the arena of ideas, then they resort to shock responses of racism, and other "phobia" style name-calling. The problem is, once the public catches on, the voters are not willing to support the failed policies of socialism/statism/progressivism/liberalism.
The Democrat Party, which has embraced the authoritarian ideas of statism in order to put forth their liberal and progressive agenda, must continually seek new ways to drum up votes. Once people age, gain wisdom and knowledge, and establish a mindset that embraces individualism, the Democrats lose those voters and they must figure out a way to replace them.
In the 2016 Election, the Democrats are pulling out all of the stops. In California the Los Angeles Times is reporting that Democrat Governor Jerry Brown has signed a bill allowing felons still behind bars to vote. The Democrats of the FEC are working on establishing rules that will ultimately ban news outlets that stand opposed to the left-wing political position. Worldwide leftists and statists are poised to wrestle free speech away from the internet. The battle to eliminate right-of-center politicking on the web has been ongoing. In California, spending bills are being passed without even any language in the bill... and the media has refused to admit the bill even exists. The Democrats not only push for felons and the dead to vote, but now are working to get the overseas vote. None of this is anything new. Notice that Amendments 19 (Women's Right to Vote), 23 (Washington DC Electoral Votes), and 26 (Change voting age to 18 from 21) all occurred just before elections when the Democrats were desperate for more votes, and the amendments would be more beneficial to Democrats than Republicans in the upcoming election. Heck, the Democrats have been using gifts from the treasury to buy votes since the New Deal. Motor Voter Registration is another way for them to get additional votes they may not have gotten otherwise. The Democrats also rig the elections through fraud and manipulation (a computer programmer admits such while under oath).
No surprise. It's what statists do.
"You know, comrades," said Stalin, "that I think in regard to this: I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this — who will count the votes, and how."
No surprise. It's what statists do.
