That's right, folks. The same woman who ordered the Baltimore PD to stand down during the Baltimore riots on the grounds of ,"Give the people who wish to destroy, space to do so" no other reason than that she, and the rioters, were black (if the rioters had been white, she'd have demanded that Maryland Governor Larry Hogan call out the National Guard, complete with Abrams battle tanks), and three weeks later was lamenting that her city was drowning in a huge crime wave has now been crowned America's Mayor.
This has got to be one of the signs of the Apocalypse:
Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is in San Francisco this weekend to be sworn in as president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors — a position she says she’ll use to advocate for fixes to Baltimore’s entrenched problems.
Problems she had a big hand in causing.
“The systemic issues we have in cities … are problems we cannot solve alone,” she said in an interview.
I'm an incompetent radical, so I need federal and State help in completely screwing up my city.
“I intend to use my role as president to advocate for those very specific needs, whether it’s food access, education, poverty or neighborhood investment.”
But not law enforcement. Because we don't tolerate that kind of thing in Baltimore.
Rawlings-Blake will become the first African-American woman to hold the influential leadership position, and the first Baltimorean.
The former being the one and only reason she was elevated.
Many see her election as a positive development — both for her and the city — but others question whether it will cause her be out of town too much in the aftermath of April’s rioting.
Symbolism over substance yet again. Yet the true symbolism will be "Crime City" going up in flames (whatever part of it is still standing) when the Baltimore Six trial doesn't turn out the way it's "supposed to" while Mayor Blake cheerleads for the black insurrectionists from afar, using her newly unearned and unworthy position to funnel them whatever resources and wealth they don't manage to loot for themselves.
You could even say that she's now "America's Looter" except that that's one of Barack Obama's royal titles.
