Independence Day Parade, Temecula

By Douglas V. Gibbs
AuthorSpeakerInstructorRadio Host

Happy Independence Day.

Last year in Temecula's Independence Day Parade I participated with a "Hillary for Prison" sign in one hand, and a Gadsen Flag waving in the other.

This year, there is a new rule.  Participant's signs can only have the name of their group on it.

Politicians hate political messages. . . or at least they do when liberals complain about them.

So, I am participating in the Temecula Independence Day Parade again this year, but this year my message will be on my clothing.

Let's see if they try to mandate what I wear.

Temecula Community Pride 4th of July Parade

July 4th, 10:00am Start - Old Town Temecula

General Information
The 4th of July Parade will be starting at 10am Tuesday morning. The parade will be running arch to arch, South to North. Parking is available at the Old Town Parking Garage (South of the Civic Center on Mercedes St). Old Town Front Street will be closed from 9am until about noon. You will be able to access the parking garage until 9:45am from the north end of town via Mercedes Street.

I will be in the parade with the Murrieta/Temecula Republican Assembly.

See you there. . .

AP Rails Against Trump's Lack of Progress

By Douglas V. Gibbs
AuthorSpeakerInstructorRadio Host

According to the Associated Press, GOP voters blame Congress, not Trump, for lack of progress.  Lack of what progress?

The Associated Press says that Trump has failed to deliver on a record number of promises.

The Presidency is, first of all, a four year marathon (and sometimes, eight years), not a few months sprint.  That said, Congress, and President Trump, have worked together to put into place more bills into law than any President since Truman.  Even the liberal left PolitiFact says so.

But, the AP says that there has been a lack of progress as if it is a matter of fact, not to be disputed.  Who would dispute the AP, after all?

Which is the point.  The truth that Trump is the most active President, and that the GOP is the most active Congress, since the first presidency following World War II during the first half of the last century does not matter to the AP.  They are trying to write a narrative that Trump and the GOP are a do-nothing team, after all, and facts to the contrary can be pesky things.

I get it.  It's frustrating that Obamacare hasn't been repealed, and it's even more frustrating the Republicans want to "replace" federal intrusion into a health care industry that the Constitution gives no authority regarding.  But, let's not fall into the left's poisonous hypnosis.  The idea that there has been a lack of progress is ridiculous.  In truth, Trump is quite active, and working very hard, as he promised.  But, you can only juggle so many things at once.  While he's been active, for some issues we must also have patience.

That said, I actually prefer a federal government that does as little as possible because internal issues are none of its business, but in the case of Trump, I appreciate the activity, because there is so much to undo.

Obama warns against too much Patriotism on Independence Day

By Douglas V. Gibbs
AuthorSpeakerInstructorRadio Host

Yeah, I know, Obama is not president anymore, so we really should not give a hoot about what he thinks, or what he says.  The problem is, he keeps inserting himself into politics, and there is still an audience willing to believe his stupidity, so it is important to report on it, and counter it.

The Democrats get nervous every year when Independence Day comes around.  The patriotism that is filling the air fills them with fear.  When people get patriotic, they start noticing how unpatriotic the Democrat Party truly is.  Communists like the ones in the Democrat Party hate love of country, and would rather you celebrate love of government.  Besides, all of those patriotic people on Independence Day like to go out and talk about how much they love America, appreciate the founding of this country, and then start lighting explosives to celebrate the winning of a war against the British Empire to earn that independence.

The horror of it all!

It's enough to anger Democrats to their core.

What's next?  Conservatives running around firing their guns?

Obama wants to make sure you understand that your patriotism is dangerous, and so while in his childhood home and Muslim-majority country, Indonesia, he warned a Muslim audience of the dangers of ‘aggressive nationalism’ (you know, like that of Donald J. Trump, and his supporters) while he praised Islamic Indonesia.

He apparently prefers Indonesia's Islamism where they publicly caned a woman for kissing her boyfriend and sentenced a Christian Governor to prison for ‘blaspheming the Quran’.

Barack Obama warned against patriotism, and instead claimed all we need is love.  Not God's love.  He meant the collective communist version of loving the collective good through government mandates, where government forces their definition of tolerance, moderation and respect for others.  Patriotism like that of Trump's supporters, according to Obama, could lead to chaos and violence.

Some countries have adopted “an aggressive kind of nationalism” and “increased resentment of minority groups”, Obama said in a speech in Indonesia.

“If we don’t stand up for tolerance and moderation and respect for others, if we begin to doubt ourselves and all that we have accomplished, then much of the progress that we have made will not continue,” he said.

Progress?  During his presidency?  Progress towards chaos, maybe.

“What we will see is more and more people arguing against democracy, we will see more and more people who are looking to restrict freedom of the press, and we’ll see more intolerance, more tribal divisions, more ethnic divisions, and religious divisions and more violence.”

First, I hope he wasn't saying America is a democracy, because we're not.  We are a republic.

Second, as he said this, did he consider Islam's intolerance, tribal divisions, ethnic divisions, religious divisions and violence?

Nope, instead, he bragged about having a Muslim step-father..

“My stepfather … was raised a Muslim but he respected Hindus and he respected Buddhists and he respected Christians,” he said.  Meanwhile, Obama has mocked Christianity.

Could it be Obama is still spouting madness because he is still angry Hillary Clinton didn't win last November?

Obama added, “If you are strong in your own faith then you should not be worried about someone else’s faith.”

The line earned raucous applause from a crowd that follows a religion that has been committing throughout history genocide against Jews and Christians.

ABC News touched on Obama praising the Islamic spirit and Constitution of Indonesia (as they allow Christians and women to be persecuted and abused):

"The spirit of this country has to be one of tolerance. It’s enshrined in Indonesia’s constitution, it’s symbolized by mosques and temples and churches beside each other,” Obama said. “That spirit is one of the defining things about Indonesia. It is one of the most important characteristics to set as an example for other Muslim countries around the world."

So, here's the message.  While on foreign shores, and in a Muslim-majority country no less, during the American celebration of Independence Day, the former President of the United States ripped into the United States, while praising Indonesia’s Muslim Constitution.

Success is the greatest counter to this.  Once Trump gets the economy pumping (and it's already on an upward curve), and the free market is thrusting the economy to growth that the Obama administration never achieved, nobody is going to care about what Barack Hussein Obama has to say. . . except for maybe the staunchest Muslims and communists in this country.

CNN Wrestled and Body Slammed: Press Looking for a Way to be Offended

By Douglas V. Gibbs
AuthorSpeakerInstructorRadio Host

The mainstream media is once again being played by President Trump, and they are too stupid to realize it.  Why do we allow the mainstream media to determine what is real, and what is fake?  The hate and vitriol for President Trump being portrayed by the press has reached ridiculous levels.  They were fine with bloody attacks threatening the life of the President, a play in a New York park depicting the assassination of Trump, they were fine with Madonna saying she wanted to blow up the White House, and they were only mildly bothered as they barely reported Kathy Griffin holding a severed head of the President, but Trump's latest body slam of CNN is horribly wrong to them.

In fact, they are absolutely horrified.

The video put out in a tweet by President Trump with a scene from many years ago when Trump was a guest on World Wrestling Entertainment showing the billionaire wrestling down an opponent with a clothesline and pounding on him with the face (a face replaced with the CNN logo) has the media beside themselves.

Think about it.  They have decided that violent threats against the President of the United States is fake, but wrestling is real.

I thought the video is funny.  It's a metaphorical beating that the idiots at CNN deserve.  Hear that? A Metaphorical beating, of which Trump has been handing them ever since he first emerged on the political scene when he decided he wanted to run for president.  I am not supporting the concept of using violence against them, I am saying that it is about time someone took them on, and the metaphorical beating is a hell of a lot funnier and tongue in cheek than is assassination plays and comedic beheadings.  That is why they are upset.  The mainstream media's dominance of defining what is true or not is being challenged, and they don't like it.

Rush Limbaugh has this thing about revealing absurdity by being absurd.  That is a part of what is behind Trump's latest tweet that has the media so beside themselves.  I suppose the President ought to be a little more reasonable, or at least that is what the pundits are saying, but are they not realizing that as they are freaking out about tweets as the President is stacking up accomplishments because that is what Trump wants them to do?  The media is being played, and the idiots are like little rats following his flute-encouraged dance as the Pied Piper leads them to the cliffs of insanity.  They are not reporting the news of what this President has been doing, because they are too gullible.  They are busy chasing a mouse on a string.  That is because they don't care about the news, they are looking for a way to be offended, and for the fun of it, Trump is providing them with plenty of opportunities.

As blood squirts out of their eyes in anger, Trump is having a hardy laugh over how easy it is to pester them, and get them all riled up.

In short, he is making them look like petulant children who scream and cry over the slightest little thing.  "Mom, he's looking at me.  Mom, he made faces at me.  Mom, he's saying he's going to wrestle me to the ground!"

Meanwhile, Trump's policies have been going into place with even more ease because their opposition is not there.  They are spending little or no time attacking those accomplishments because they are too busy chasing the mouse on a string.

If everyone would just stop being offended for a moment, because being offended is childish and stupid, they would realize the method behind Trump's madness, which is maddening to the mainstream media, but is giving Trump a chuckle, and time to do his work without the press realizing that what he is doing his making them look stupid.

What they are is a fake media.  #fakemedia

I'll bet, however, they haven't been reporting on the Trump supporter beaten to a bloody pulp by Antifa.

Or, how about the Muslim beating the Austrian couple?

Crickets.

They hate Donald Trump more than they they love America, and more than any resolve to report accurate news.

Combat Veterans for Congress: Happy Fourth of July-----God Bless The USA

By Capt Joseph R. John, July 2, 2017: Op Ed # 358

Each year on Independence Day, the Fourth of July, Americans celebrate, express their support for the freedoms they enjoy, and recognize the unlimited opportunities afforded them to improve their station in life, because of The Free Enterprise System.  The Fourth of July is also an opportunity for each “Patriotic American Citizen” to celebrate a second symbolic birthday.

Countless generations of Americans fought for, and under the American Flag.  The American Flag symbolizes the unity of Americans.  The “”Flag” is flown on national holidays, above US Federal buildings, on US Military installations, on US Navy ships, over US Embassies & US Missions, by deployed US military units overseas, and by millions of Americans over their residences. The “American Flag” symbolizes the principles upon which the Founding Fathers established the Republic, and collectively signed the Declaration of Independence 241 years ago.

On the Fourth of July, and every day, Americans citizens demonstrate their support for Military Veterans, and members of the US Armed Forces, who raised their right hand, and swore to protect and defend the US Constitution, then gallantly served in the defense of the Republic, under the American Flag.

At one point in their lives, the members of US Armed Forces, wrote a blank check made payable to “The United States of America” for an amount “up to and including their lives.”  The courage demonstrated by Combat Veterans who served in the defense of the Republic, can be appropriately described by a quote, made in 352 BC, by King Philip of Macedonia:

“Here is courage, mankind’s finest possession.  Here is the noblest prize.”

Kindly click on the below listed link, to listen to an outstanding presentation that is appropriate for the Fourth of July:

Despite the ever present threat from Radical Islamic Terrorist to disrupt Fourth of July celebrations, all Americans should respond to potential threats by flying the American Flag on the Fourth, and by joining with their fellow Americans to celebrate the Fourth of July in the same way they have done in years past.

The Combat Veterans For Congress wish you a secure and Happy Fourth of July!!

See You At Church. . . regarding the U.S. Constitution

By Douglas V. Gibbs
AuthorSpeakerInstructorRadio Host

Sunday, 10:00 AM, July 2, 2017 I will be speaking at the First Christian Church, 701 Egan, Beaumont.

Here's a taste of what I will be talking about:

Government is necessary.  Madison regarded it as self-evident “that persons and property are the two great subjects on which Governments are to act; and that the rights of persons, and the rights of property, are the objects, for the protection of which Government was instituted.”

Divine Providence was the centerpiece of the view of the founders.  Through Divine Providence, the English Colonies defeated the most powerful military force in the world, and through Divine Providence, the greatest constitution in history was written after about four months of grueling debate.  Benjamin Franklin, likely the least religious of the delegates, recognized God’s Hand in the forging of this nation, and was not afraid to voice his opinion on the matter after the first few weeks of debate during the federal convention of 1787 was yielding little by way of results.

The new nation needed solutions, and the men present were arguing over matters that would not matter if the country collapsed.  The elder statesman, Benjamin Franklin, who had been watching the tumultuous beginnings of the convention with patience, and in silence, spoke up. “Gentlemen, we are missing something.”

Franklin understood that if the convention was going to be able to move forward, the battling delegates had to discover a common bond that was both inspirational, and demanded virtuous action.  He recanted how they had been on their knees in prayer during the war against Britain.  He reminded the delegates how all odds had been against the States that had united for war in the hopes of defeating the mightiest war power on Earth.  Yet, with the Hand of Divine Providence guiding them, and protecting them, the newly formed union of States defeated the British, and now stood at the gateway of an exceptional existence.

Had the delegates forgotten to place the current proceedings at Independence Hall in Philadelphia in the Hands of God?

The 71-year old in round-rimmed glasses recounted all of the miracles of America, and explained to the room of delegates, whose average age (minus his) was about 27-years old, that their bickering, and disagreements, simply proved that human understanding is imperfect.  He commented on how they had studied history for examples of good and bad government, including the different forms of republics.  He discussed that with all of the laborious research they had engaged in, and looking at the current systems of government throughout Europe, that no system studied was perfectly suitable for the needs of the fledgling United States.  Even with all of that research, in the convention they could not seem to be able to find the political truth they sought.  How is it that they could not find the answer?  Could it be that something was missing?

Should they, perhaps, humbly appeal to The Creator?  Should they not consult the “Father of lights to illuminate our understandings?”

The American Revolution was a dangerous undertaking.  The founders, Franklin reminded the delegates, during the war were on their knees in daily prayer.  The prayers were heard, “for only His Favor could account for their victory.”

Franklin said that they were “consulting in peace on the means of establishing our future national felicity.  And have we now forgotten that powerful friend?  Or, do we imagine that we no longer need his assistance?”

Benjamin Franklin was not known to be a religious man.  He admitted that in his younger years he did not give much thought to the credence of the existence of God.  But, as he had grown older, his observations were telling him otherwise.  To explain this, Franklin said, “I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth – that God Governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid?”

Without God, he assured his fellow delegates, “We labor in vain.”  Without God, the government formed by the convention would fail.  Without God they would be divided, bickering over little partial local interests.  Without God, the greatness that could be the United States would be lost to future generations.

Benjamin Franklin, the celebrated “deist” by those who seek to deconstruct the story of the founding of the United States, then recommended that the delegates pray before each session of the convention.

After the motion was seconded, an interesting development occurred.

Alexander Hamilton, and a number of others who shared his political views, expressed their apprehensions about praying before each session of the convention.  Hamilton believed the Constitution was limiting the authorities of the federal government too much, and now he was bothered that God was going to be inserted into the convention.

In the end, the delegates decided that no clergy could be hired, partly due to a lack of funds, and therefore a formal prayer before each session of the Constitutional Convention was not possible.  Nonetheless, refusing to allow that to stop them from seeking God’s Will before continuing, a majority of the delegates walked to the nearest church, and congregated there for a prayer.

Later, during America’s journey, based on Franklin’s request, the tradition of prayer before each session of Congress was initiated, and has been in place ever since.

In the opinion of a majority of the founders, Divine Providence was an important key to the success of America, and is an integral part in maintaining the essence of freedom.

In the view of the Framers of the U.S. Constitution, limitations on the government, the preservation of individualism, and a reliance on Divine Providence, were inseparable from justice.  Only a virtuous society is capable of operating within the “rules of just conduct.”  Without being a godly society, the security of personal property, and natural rights, would be in danger.  “That alone is a just government,” wrote Madison, “which impartially secures to every man, whatever is his own.”

The United States of America was founded upon the concept of classical-liberalism, which is a political theory consistent with limited government and the rule of law.  The essence of liberty was recognized in the limitations of government, in a system where checks and balances defends individuality, personal rights, and property, while preventing corruption, and providing a sound foundation for the emergence of a spontaneous free market that spawns wealth creation, and individual opportunity.

The Constitution was written to provide a sound system of governance that would be capable of standing the test of time, and the test of tyrants.  Rather than follow the folly of democracy, where the majority rules through a purely democratic system and we run the risk of losing our liberty, various checks and balances were inserted so as to establish a balanced government where all power, including the power of the people, was sensibly divided.  An informed electorate, exercising their original authority through the sovereignty of their States, can protect and preserve individualism through their efforts, and be more aware of the political tides that are constantly colluding against the Blessings of Liberty.  Understanding the essence of liberty makes us more likely to recognize the constitutional limits that insulate economic life from politics and prevent free-loader behavior that embraces the redistribution of wealth, rather than the creation of wealth through a free market system.

For the essence of liberty to prevail, government must be limited, and just.  The security of individualism, natural rights, and property must take precedence over political philosophies, and the misguided desire of the ruling elite to engage in social engineering.

The essence of liberty is found in the limitations of government, and a limited government promotes economic freedom, the rule of law, and the preservation of the rights of the people.

Without limitations on government, the essence of liberty will become nothing more than a memory of freedom.

Ripe with Fraud: Obamaphone

By Douglas V. Gibbs
AuthorSpeakerInstructorRadio Host

Any gift from the treasury, no matter what it is, is subject to fraud.  When the government offers something for "free", people are bound to try and take advantage.  An unfortunate reality, and one of the reasons socialism can never work.

The “Obamaphone” program is one such program that has suffered from fraud.  A government report released found more than a third of enrollees may not have even been qualified for the phones that were supposed to only go to those who were too poor to afford having a cell phone.

With fraud comes government waste, and the Obama administration was full of it.

In addition to the fraud regarding people gaining access to the program when they shouldn't have, the program also stashed approximately $9 billion in assets in private bank accounts rather than with the federal treasury.  As with many failed and bogus programs, the lack of oversight made a bad situation worse.

About 10.6 million people have an Obamaphone, but 36 percent of them may not qualify, investigators said after sampling the population and finding a huge chunk of people couldn’t prove they were eligible.

More than 5,500 people were found to be enrolled for two phones, while the program was paying for nearly 6,400 phones for persons the government has listed as having died.

Investigators also submitted fraudulent applications to see what would happen, and 12 of the 19 phone carriers they applied to approved a phone.

The Failure of Public Transportation

By Douglas V. Gibbs
AuthorSpeakerInstructorRadio Host

Public transportation has its place.  For some people it is a necessary mode of travel.  Not everyone has the ability to afford a vehicle, or the fortune of having a job that is only a bike ride away.  Therefore, the extreme idea of eliminating any public transportation is not being entertained here.  But, as much as we should not totally eliminate public transportation, we also should not push for increasing public transportation with the goal of removing people from their vehicles, or to the point of building super-trains with money we don't have for a population that will likely not ride it.

In California the liberal left Democrats want us out of our cars, and they look to New York's mass transit system as an example.  The reality is, New York City's public transportation is a mess, as is anything, eventually, when the government controls it.

Single-Payer Kills Babies, By Force

By Douglas V. Gibbs
AuthorSpeakerInstructorRadio Host

The Democrats say single-payer is a wonderful thing.  Everyone gets care.  And, in retaliation to Sarah Palin's claim of death panels, they promise there are no death panels. . . except in those instances when there are.

A friend of mine in Toronto told me that in the long run, single-payer is more expensive than a private system.  At the time I was talking to her, I was receiving an employer-paid insurance package, but in the construction industry my employer only paid for a portion for me.  My family was my responsibility.  I was paying slightly under $700 per month for my policy.

Less government interference would have made it a lot cheaper, and a pure free market system could drive down medical costs in general, while driving up quality, but that's a different discussion for another time.

We decided to compare costs.  She tallied up her taxes for her free health care in Canada, and the cost of her supplemental insurance (necessary because government discovered some things are just too expensive for them to be willing to cover) and it turned out that her free health care was costing her more per month than my package through a major insurance carrier.

While my co-pay put out more per visit, it was a small price to pay for the fact that I did not have the wait times that she would experience, nor the bureaucracy involved with getting care approved by some government idget in some office somewhere stamping forms.

Our current health care system in America is broken, but the reason it is not what it should be is because of government intrusion.  The purely free market nature has been eliminated.  Insurance is a part of the problem.  HMOs are part of the problem.  Government is the largest part of the problem.  Government intrusion is what broke it, more government intrusion will not fix it.

The more government gets involved, the more involved they become.  If we want to see where we are headed should the Democrats get their way, all we must do is take a look at existing single-payer systems.

Europe's health care is a mess, but is also usually the model the Democrats use to show us how wonderful single-payer is.  So, let's take a look.

In the United Kingdom there is an interesting health care situation that brings Sarah Palin's death panels claim to mind.

The case involves a baby.  He's 10-months old, and has a rare genetic disorder called mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome.  The condition leads to organ malfunction, brain damage, and other horrible symptoms. The child has been a patient in London, at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, and the experts at the hospital have decided that he's a lost cause, it takes too much to keep him alive or to try to find a cure, and therefore the child should “die with dignity” despite the opinion of the parents.

The death panel that we are told does not exist has deemed it to be so.

The parents have decided they aren't ready to give up on their child, so they raised $1.6 million and wish to take their precious little child out of the hospital in London, and transfer him to a facility in the United States so he can undergo an experimental therapy.  The American doctor has already agreed to administer the procedure, it's just a matter of the child being moved from one location to the other.

The British health care system, however, does not believe the parents know what is best for their child, and the death panel has decreed that the hospital will not give Charlie back to his parents.  The parents resisted, so the case went to the judicial system, where the European Court of “Human Rights” ruled that the parents should be barred from taking their son to the United States for treatment. According to the “human rights” court, it is Charlie’s human right that he expire in his hospital bed in London. The parents are not allowed to try and save his life. It is “in his best interest” to simply die, they ruled.

The death panel, and the courts, have spoken.  “Death with dignity” supersedes all other rights, in Europe, and you have no authority to disagree with the authoritarian decision of government.  You may allow your child to die in the hospital, and you may abort an unborn child, but the system will not allow a mother to fight to keep her baby alive.

It would be one thing if this was simply a medical opinion that was rationalized, the parents had been consulted, and after a long and arduous process of coming to grips they decided that a treatment such as the one in America was a waste of time and would kill the child.  In a sense, that has happened, but without the parents being a part of the decision.  What's worse is that this was not a decision based on medical research, but a bureaucratic one where government determined it is only willing to spend so much money, and they can't have people out there disobeying the government by pursuing anything outside the government's wisdom.

Jean Jacques Rousseau once said that "man must be forced to be free."

Only the ruling elite knows what's best for you.

And the leftists call conservatives the fascists?

What we have here is a true example of what authoritarian single-payer is all about.  No second opinion, unless it is the government's own bureaucracy-approved second opinion.  The death panel is the final authority over life itself.  And, because of that, the family is not allowed to pursue any possible life-saving treatment anywhere because the death panel and courts have decided the child must die.

This is a perfect example of socialized medicine. Government run health care allows the government to make all of the decisions, whether you like it, or not.  It calls upon Rousseau's General Will, a will of the people that is for their own good.  The people do not recognize what is for the common good, but the ruling elite does, so it is there job to make the decisions because you are too stupid to make them yourselves.  Welcome to socialized medicine, the authoritarian state where your right to life and your parental rights are subordinate to the whims of bureaucrats sitting in some office somewhere. . . because they said so.

In Europe, your rights have limits, and government decides where those limits are.  In the case of Chris and Connie, their child does not belong to them, and their love, from the government's point of view, has blinded them.  But, that's okay, government death panels will make the decision for them, and the decision is that they must watch their child die in agony, with no hope for life even though hope exists out there in America (for now).  Life is but a minor thing.  Rights are a dream.  Hope is an illusion.  Do as you're told, and act as the government demands.  The courts say so.

The United Kingdom has told these parents that their love and hope is not worth the trouble.  The chance is too slim, and the monetary cost is too high.  The baby is “suffering,” so it is their decision to allow the child to die.  Your hope and love, be damned.

There is no dignity in this.  The bureaucrats use words like "dignity" to cover up how heinous what they are doing truly is.  Life is not important to the bureaucrats, the government's money and wishes are.  Euthanizing people is the way things go, now.  They euthanize babies in the womb, and babies in the hospital.  They euthanize alcoholics and depressives and other people who they consider to be terminally ill.  Those chosen to be euthanized were only human weeds, after all, sucking the life out of the single-payer system.

Adolf Hitler and Josef Stalin would be proud.
