More Evidence Reveals Climate Change a Natural Occurrence

By Douglas V. Gibbs
AuthorSpeakerInstructorRadio Host

According to the U.K. Daily Mail Online, new data is showing that El Nino (a natural phenomenon), not man-made emissions activity, drove global temperatures up momentarily this year.  Aside from that short upward spike, global average temperatures have been plummeting at a record pace.  The spike in temperatures this year ended when El Nino was finished, as indicated by information retrieved from NASA's satellites.

La Nina is next, which turns weather colder than usual.

The Donald Trump team has already indicated that the President Elect plans to kill Nasa’s $1.9 billion climate research budget (a move that has the snowflakes on college campuses beside themselves in fear of the end of the world - after all, the liberal left education system has been filling them full of the man-made climate change lie since their first day in kindergarten).

NASA's website shows a new study which indicates there was a hiatus in global warming before the recent El Nino.  The evidence, then, suggests that since 1998, the rate of global warming has been much slower than predicted by computer models, because of the shift in natural cycles, including sunspot activity.  Does the climate change?  Yes.  Is it because of man-made emissions?  No.  Climate change is a natural cycle, and all of the climate change political voo doo is in place not to save the planet, but to enslave the planet.

What about all of that evidence the leftists keep providing that supports the concept of man-made climate change, one might ask.

You mean like how the EPA cooked the books and got caught, recently?  It's not about emissions, it's about control - perpetuated by the United Nations through their sustainable development garbage.  It all runs hand in hand. . . and it is all poppycock.  Follow the money, and follow the quest for power.

Election Recount Not About the Election

By Douglas V. Gibbs
AuthorSpeakerInstructorRadio Host

One thing I have learned over the years when it comes to the liberal left Democrats is nothing is ever what it seems.  It's like the single-use plastic bag bans that are spreading across liberal America.  Notice there is a ten cent charge that goes along with using paper bags or thicker plastic bags that take 28 times the energy to create.  It's a hidden tax.  The single-use plastic bag ban has nothing to do with the environment, and everything to do with devising a way to get more money out of us.

The same thing goes for the desire for a recount.  It has nothing to do with the election, and everything to do with something else.

It turns out they were too late for a Pennsylvania recount.  If they, specifically Hillary Clinton and Jill Stein, were serious about a recount, wouldn't they have made sure they got to blue-since-Reagan Pennsylvania before the expiration date?

During the Trump campaign the chant "lock her up" was a regular occurrence.  The day after the election I wrote that Trump will not pursue putting Hillary in jail, but that does not ensure that the Attorney General, presumably Jeff Sessions, won't continue with investigations and prosecute Hillary Clinton for her crimes.  I think Hillary truly believes that if Trump is in the White House, she will be pursued.  And criminals are willing to do everything they can to keep from getting caught, even if what they are doing is obviously ridiculous.

From Hillary's point of view, the only thing that will keep her out of jail is keeping Trump out of the White House.  Therefore, the recount is necessary.  In the panic, however, they got sloppy, and missed Pennsylvania's deadline.  Time is short.  The criminal is panicking.  If the recount doesn't work, Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Crime Machine, will go into high gear, and the list of dead bodies caused by the Clintons will begin to grow again.

The recount is evidence she is panicking.

The last thing Hillary wants to be wearing is an orange jump suit, and she believes the only way to stop it from happening is to stop Trump from grabbing the reins of the federal government. . . by any means necessary.

Ohio State Terrorism All About Islam

By Douglas V. Gibbs
AuthorSpeakerInstructorRadio Host

Originally, the terror on the Ohio State University campus was reported as being a shooter at large.  The liberal left press wants so desperately to assist in the Democrat Party's rhetoric about gun control.  Every shooting, they believe, brings them one step closer to making the entire United States a gun-free zone.

The Muslim Somali, here on a legal permanent residency, used a car and butcher's knife to cut through crowds during his mid-morning personal jihad at the university.  A student of Ohio State University, everyone was surprised. . . he didn't seem like a "radical" Muslim until he decided to turn violent.

An officer then shot and killed Abdul Razak Ali Artan after he had exited his vehicle he had used to attack eight pedestrians, and was slicing through people with his blade.

No connection to any terrorist organization has been found, but a Facebook post he left fits into the leftist narrative that Muslims only attack us because of our presence in the Middle East:
Sources also said authorities are looking at a Facebook post to determine if it is connected to the suspect. The post reads, "I am sick and tired of seeing my fellow Muslim brothers and sisters being killed and tortured EVERYWHERE ... I can't take it anymore. America! Stop interfering with other countries ... [if] you want us Muslims to stop carrying lone wolf attacks."
While Abdul Razak Ali Artan had no gun, it took a firearm to stop him.  That said, when the attack began, the school put out an active shooter warning, sending the leftist indoctrinated snowflakes fleeing for cover.

In an attempt to steer blame away from the terrorist, and towards "Islamophobia," Yahoo! News has an article out there explaining why the poor Islamic student can't be blamed for his violence, because he was upset about being scared to pray like a Muslim.

Obama's Executive Midnight Tyranny

By Douglas V. Gibbs
AuthorSpeakerInstructorRadio Host

When President John Adams lost to Thomas Jefferson in the Presidential Election of 1800, and Adams' Federalist Party lost both Houses of Congress, the big government Federalist Party went into action.  The scheme has been called the "appointment of midnight judges."  Jefferson said regarding the massive appointment of new judges, "The principal [leaders of the political opposition] have retreated into the judiciary as a stronghold, the tenure of which renders it difficult to dislodge them.  And from that battery all the works of Republicanism are to be beaten down and destroyed."

President Obama does not have the pre-inauguration Congress in his favor, so legislation and the confirmation of a massive number of midnight judges is not something he can do, so he is activating his pen and a phone.

Agencies under the Executive Branch are initiating a flurry of new last minute rules, and Obama is putting out a whole slew of executive orders.

The "midnight" regulations cover everything from the environment to transportation and financial marketplaces.  They number at about 98 final regulations, as of November 15, all designed to be in place before Mr. Trump takes office, including 17 with an estimated annual economic impact of $100 million or more.

"We're looking at the stack of regulations and the fact that the agencies are just as ill-prepared to make these new regulations work as we are confused on how we can possibly comply in such a short time ," Kathleen Sgamma, vice president of government and public affairs at the Western Energy Alliance in Denver, told The Hill.

"We've seen a whole trajectory here of the Obama administration leaning into conservation and climate issues," Alex Taurel, the League of Conservation Voters deputy legislative director, told The Hill.

US Interior Department spokeswoman Jessica Kershaw said in an email that the administration is merely "finishing the business we started and in some cases, finishing the business of prior administrations where decisions weren't complete when we took the helm."

With the addition of three monuments in February, Obama had designated more than 265 million acres of land and water – more than any other president since the US Antiquities Act afforded his office the power in 1906 to protect public lands – as The Christian Science Monitor reported:

To some, Mr. Obama's use of the 110-year-old Antiquities Act to unilaterally designate a massive area that holds everything from lava flows to Joshua trees is a major legacy move, part of the President’s "commitment to aggressive action" to preserve public lands in their natural state.

But to others, it smacks of federal overreach.

Tim Allen Calls Hollywood Bullies "Hypocritical"

By Douglas V. Gibbs
AuthorSpeakerInstructorRadio Host

Tim Allen says he's center-right. His program, "Last Man Standing" is center-right.  The writers, according to Allen, not so much.

Always opinionated, Tim Allen spent some time on Fox News' "The Kelly File" and said that his fellow Hollywood actors claim they hate Trump partly because he's a bully, and then bully people who support President-elect Donald Trump.

"What I find odd in Hollywood is that they didn’t like Trump because he was a bully, but if you had any kind of inkling that you were for Trump, you got bullied for doing that. And it gets a little bit hypocritical to me."

"You get bullied into a position, but I don’t want to defend the guy," Allen explained. "To me, he acts like a new talent comedian. These are guys that have great material that have very bad comedy timing. And he's got terrible timing."

Deadly New Orleans Bourbon Street Shooting

By Douglas V. Gibbs
AuthorSpeakerInstructorRadio Host

1 dead and 9 are wounded in a Bourbon Street shooting in French Quarter, according to New Orleans police.

The person who was killed has been identified as a male who died at an area hospital.  There is no immediate information about the extent of the other victims' injuries.

Police have indicated that two men were arrested, including one shooting victim.  Both were booked on charges of illegal carrying of a weapon. Police did not say the men were being charged or suspected with being the shooter or shooters.

Two and a half years ago, a woman was killed and nine others were injured in a shooting in the 700 block of Bourbon Street, about five blocks away. Earlier this year Trung Lee, 22, was sentenced to 60 years in prison in connection with that June 2014 shooting that police said involved at least one other gunman.

Police closed a section of Bourbon Street, setting up evidence cones throughout the crime scene.

Ronnie Buendia who was working nearby as a cashier at a parking garage about half a block from the incident said he heard four shots.

"Everybody was running into the garage trying to get away," he said.

Another witness said she saw four or five gunshot victims, including one man who appeared to have been shot in the chest, on his right side near his shoulder blade, she said, and had a bandage there. The man was walking toward an ambulance while talking on his phone.

Another man was walking with blood dripping from his fingertips in one hand, the woman said. A third victim was strapped into a stretcher and had a neck brace on. She could not tell where that third man was wounded.

"It's bad for New Orleans," said the woman.

Canada's Trudeau Shows His Communist Side Praising Castro

By Douglas V. Gibbs
AuthorSpeakerInstructorRadio Host

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is considered to be a very soft and handsome guy - the kind that only a hipster or metrosexual could appreciate.  That's about where the list of good things about him ends.  He's a socialist, and an Islamic sympathizer.  Don't believe me?  His tribute complimenting Fidel Castro as "remarkable" and a "larger than life leader who served his people" pretty much spells out that calling him a socialist is an understatement.

Only a communist puke like Trudeau (or should I write "Turdeau" like Anita from Canada likes to put?) could be so far to the left that he doesn't see any problem the late Fidel Castro's human rights abuses and record of political oppression.

Trudeau's idiocy, however, has been great for jokes and parody, spawning a litany of parody tributes that have been dubbed with the hashtag #TrudeauEulogies.

In his statement, Trudeau expressed "deep sorrow" after learning of "the death of Cuba's longest serving president."
"Fidel Castro was a larger than life leader who served his people for almost half a century. A legendary revolutionary and orator, Mr. Castro made significant improvements to the education and healthcare of his island nation."
"While a controversial figure, both Mr. Castro's supporters and detractors recognized his tremendous dedication and love for the Cuban people who had a deep and lasting affection for 'el Comandante'."

Trudeau added that his late father, Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau "was very proud to call him a friend."  Castro had been an honorary pallbearer at his father's funeral.

But Trudeau didn't stop there.  Oh, hell no.  He finished with a fabulatory double twist with a half flip: "We join the people of Cuba today in mourning the loss of this remarkable leader."

Talk about sticking the landing!

The prime minister's statement had Senator Marco Rubio asking: Is this real?
"If this is a real statement from the PM of Canada it is shameful & embarrassing," tweeted the U.S. Senator and former presidential candidate of Cuban heritage.
U.S. Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, who fled Cuba with her family when she was 8 and became the first American of Cuban birth elected to Congress, was not impressed with Trudeau either.
She said, "I've been reading his sickening love letter to dead Fidel Castro and I'm thinking, 'Sure, you did not lose a loved one to an execution squad. You did not lose a loved one to the gulags in Cuba.'"
"The only thing that Fidel has been successful in, has not been health nor education, or human rights or democracy, it's been holding onto power -- which is easy to do when you don't have elections," she continued.
Senator Ted Cruz, also a former presidential candidate like Rubio, whose father was born and raised in Cuba, called Trudeau's tribute "disgraceful."

Disgraceful. Why do young socialists idolize totalitarian tyrants? Castro, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot -- all evil, torturing murderers. #truthhttps://twitter.com/canadianpm/status/802492634854031360 …
1:11 PM - 26 Nov 2016

The parody-style mocking especially hit the target in showing how disgraceful the Canadian Prime Minister's love-letter to Castro truly was:
Another person tweeted an image of a dark North Korea contrasted with a brightly lit South Korea and wrote: "Kim Jong il will always be remembered fondly for his leadership and contributions on climate change."
And Joseph Stalin really helped with "eradication of obesity in Ukraine," another chimed in.
Spoof Trudeau eulogies also poured in for Montgomery Burns, Darth Vader and the Joker.
In sort of related news, Canada now has its first television hijab wearing Muslim news anchor.

Terrorism at Starbucks in New Mexico

By Douglas V. Gibbs

According to CNN, the FBI is investigating an incident of vandalism, along with the placement of explosive devices at 3 Albuquerque Starbucks locations.  One person, at this point, is in custody.

The suspicious devices were placed at the stores early Friday. One went off and caused minimal damage.  The stores were closed, and there were no injuries.

While the person in custody has not been named, and no motive have been given, because of the nature of the devices, it should be considered that the devices are a part of an Islamic terrorist attack.  The very fact that the person in custody has not been described by the mainstream media tells me, to take a lesson from a discussion I had with nationally syndicated radio host Larry Elder, that the suspect is either a person of color, or Muslim.

Two federal agencies are involved in the investigation (FBI & Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives).  The local Albuquerque police and local fire departments are also investigating.

A statement by Starbucks stated that the company is working closely with investigating authorities, and that they are "...relieved that the stores were closed at the time of the incidents, and there are no reports of any injuries."

DeVos as Education Secretary. . . Maybe, Maybe Not

By Douglas V. Gibbs
AuthorSpeakerInstructorRadio Host

In the United States Constitution the authority regarding education is not expressly enumerated, so the federal government has no authority to have a Department of Education in the first place.  If Donald J. Trump truly desires to follow the rule of law, he will work with the United States Congress to remove all federal influence in the education system and return it back to local control where it belongs.  From a constitutional point of view, education is the responsibility of the States.  Localism is the key.  American Education's decline went into high gear when the Department of Education was created under Jimmy Carter's regime back in the late seventies.  We became a super power educating our children in little red schoolhouses and using the basic standards carried down from the early years of our country.  When the liberal left began to seize control in the early 1900s, with Dewey's socialist ideals crammed in wherever he could squeeze them in, it was the beginning of the end for American dominance in education.

When it comes to the importance of localism, in relation to education, the common sense of it all is that a community is going to know more about what it needs in terms of education than a bureaucrat in an office in Washington D.C.  The other thing about it is that the federal government tries to use a "one-size-fits-all" strategy, which always fails.  The problem is, if the federal government's bureaucrats are the only ones allowed to do anything with education, there is no opportunity for innovation.

Innovation occurs when there is competition, and a free market of ideas and opportunity.  When the States control education within their own borders, rather than a single system being shoved down the throats of We the People, it creates 50 different laboratories who can learn off of each other, and create an innovative atmosphere as they compete with each other for the most successful education system in the country.

Unfortunately, right now that is not what we have.  So, until we can eliminate the Education Department, we must first incrementally reform it until we can finally give it the heave-ho out of existence.  Therefore, if there must be an Education Secretary, the person needs to understand that federal influence on education must be reduced, and eventually done away with.  The person needs to be against Common Core, and supportive of Private Schools, Homeschooling, vouchers for school choice, and must be one who encourages a process that is designed to return education back to local authority.

In other words, the perfect Education Secretary would be one actively seeking to eventually eliminate their own employment position from the purview of the federal government.

Trump, while determining who should take over the U.S. Department of Education, decided it was once again time to reach outside the establishment, and grab someone from the private sector.  His choice?  A fellow billionaire, but one who is happy to be a benefactor for good causes, Betsy DeVos.

“Betsy DeVos is a brilliant and passionate education advocate,” Trump said in a press release. “Under her leadership we will reform the U.S. education system and break the bureaucracy that is holding our children back so that we can deliver world-class education and school choice to all families.”

Previously a member of the Jeb Bush team, and someone who said she supported Common Core, DeVos now says she is against Common Core, and supports localism in relation to America's educational system.

“I am honored to accept this responsibility to work with the president-elect on his vision to make American education great again,” DeVos said in a statement. “The status quo in education is not acceptable. Together, we can work to make transformational change that ensures every student in America has the opportunity to fulfill his or her highest potential.”

I titled this article with a "maybe, maybe not" at the end of it because I am not fully convinced she is anti-Common Core.  She says she is.  I do know she claims to support school choice programs such as vouchers, private schools, and homeschooling; but her past connection to Jeb Bush's pro-Common Core team bugs me a little.

Upon accepting the position of education secretary, DeVos issued a statement clarifying that she is not a supporter of Common Core “period.”  Trump campaigned on eliminating Common Core standards which, on top of being unconstitutional, are downright diabolical in how the curriculum seeks to hijack America's education system not only for the benefit of federal control, but literally by changing how children are taught from math, reading, to a system of deceptive revisionist history.  It's the same "new education" they tried in the late sixties and seventies, but this time the collectivist standards are even more deceptive, and more hostile towards the basic education standards we should be following.

The fact is, as she accepted Trump's offer for Secretary of Education, DeVos also currently serves as head of the Foundation for Excellence in Education, which was started by former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, who Trump criticized for defending Common Core.

While I have my concerns regarding DeVos' past association with those who support Common Core, her otherwise record is pretty good.  She supports charter schools, which the teacher's unions absolutely hate.  While still a part of the public school system, charter schools are outside many of the rules public schools are forced to operated under, which means that charter schools operate with more autonomy than traditional public schools.

DeVos is the daughter of Edgar and Elsa Prince. Her father was an extremely successful engineer, developer, and industrialist, who founded Prince Corporation.  Betsy DeVos’ in-laws, Richard and Helen DeVos, are longtime supporters of conservative organizations like The Heritage Foundation, and Richard DeVos is the co-founder of Amway, which is now one of the largest and most successful companies in the world.

Betsy DeVos' educational philosophies seem to be in line with her own track record not only as a person involved in education, but by the fact that she chose to send her own children to private Christian schools, according to Chalkbeat.  Growing up, DeVos attended Holland Christian High School in Michigan, and graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and political science.

Is DeVos the right decision for the head of the federal government's unconstitutional Education Department?  Perhaps.  Time will tell.  I will consider her a good pick if her first line of business once in position is to drive a stake through the heart of Common Core.  The elimination of Common Core has to be her number one peragotive if she is indeed someone who truly understands that the federal government, and outside influence from organizations like the United Nations, must be removed from our children's education.

Ben Carson's Decision: To Trump, Or Not To Trump

By Douglas V. Gibbs
AuthorSpeakerInstructorRadio Host

When I had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Ben Carson, he did not come across as a politician.  His soft demeaner is soothing, but as you talk to him, you realize there is a lot of strength behind that calm exterior.  Truth be said, politics was something he never thought he would be a part of.  So, when the possibility of being a member of Donald Trump's administration came up, originally, he said, "No."

Dr. Carson was on the short list for Secretary of Education and Secretary of Health and Human Services at one point.  But, he's not a political guy.  Heck, he didn't even want to run for President until a large enough list of signatures convinced him otherwise.

Now, the neurosurgeon turned former presidential candidate is saying otherwise.

While originally declining a position in Trump's cabinet because he feared he wasn't skilled enough to run a government agency, now he's not so sure that being a part of the Trump team is a bad thing, especially if that opportunity may lead to him being able to bring hope to the inner-cities.

"Basically, I've said my preference is to be outside and to act as an adviser, but if after going through the process they all conclude it would be much better to have me in the Cabinet, I would have to give that very serious consideration," Carson has now said.

Carson told Fox News' "Your World with Neil Cavuto" that a position as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development is "one of the offers that is on the table."

"Our inner cities are in terrible shape," Carson said. "And they definitely need some real attention. There have been so many promises made over the last several decades and nothing has been done, so it certainly is something that has been a long-term interest of mine."

Carson is familiar with my emerging work with the Congress of Racial Equality, and I am figuring this may be a good opportunity for us to work together.  I am a firm believer that the transformation of our minority neighborhoods begins with targeting the culture with education.  Our program with CORE is designed to teach patriotic assimilation and the advantages of a constitutionally-based government to Hispanic and black communities so as to encourage liberty-participation, and dynamic economic market opportunities.

In another statement, Carson wrote in a Facebook post, "Winning the presidential election was only the first step for those who love traditional America and do not wish to fundamentally change it. Now the hard work begins of restoring the values that made us great.  After serious discussions with the Trump transition team, I feel that I can make a significant contribution particularly to making our inner cities great for everyone ... An announcement is forthcoming about my role in helping to make America great again."

Trump tweeted that he was "seriously considering" Carson as the next Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

I am seriously considering Dr. Ben Carson as the head of HUD. I've gotten to know him well--he's a greatly talented person who loves people!
9:10 AM - 22 Nov 2016

Taking the position of Secretary of HUD, considering Carson's upbringing, and story of clawing his way out of poverty, seems like the perfect role for him in Trump's cabinet.  I am figuring when I meet with the Trump administration in April, as is currently scheduled, Dr. Carson will be a part of the group I will be discussing our CORE Civics and Constitution Studies program with.

Before the Wall

By Douglas V. Gibbs

My brother in law was born in Mexico.  His parents immigrated here when he was a baby, and then during his early teenage years the family moved back to Mexico.  It took him nine months to decide to come back to America for good where the opportunities are.  He naturalized, and is very conservative on the immigration issue.  We spoke on Thanksgiving, and he told me, "Diversity doesn't work.  Multiculturalism is a lie.  I would refuse a job if I found out I got it because I am Mexican, and not on my merits."

I talked to him about how I am working with the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) to spread constitutional literacy to the inner-cities, targeting both black and Hispanic neighborhoods.  While jazzed about what I am doing, he doubted if I would be able to reach people like his mother, who, while conservative in her thinking (pro-life, pro-family, pro-traditional marriage, a supporter of self-reliance, a supporter of personal responsibility, fiscally conservative, and prefers government is not ruling her life), she voted for Hillary Clinton because she believed the liberal left narrative that Trump will deport just about every Mexican who isn't a citizen, and she feared if Trump won he'd deport her friends from church.

My wife voted for Trump.  As a legal immigrant, she feels that by allowing illegal aliens into the country, and loading them up with benefits, the system is slapping her in the face.  She did everything right, yet the illegals have cut in line, disobeyed the law, and are being rewarded for it.  She didn't believe the liberal left's propaganda that Trump is racist against Mexicans, but her mother did.

The reality is that under Obama more illegal aliens have been deported than under any previous President in American History.  So, if these women have been worried about their friends being deported under Trump, they should have been worried about the same under Barack Obama.  That said, Obama's agencies are also currently releasing 195 illegals, per day, an action designed to show support for the Democrat Party's narrative that stands opposed to the rule of law.

How the Obama administration was able to deport as many as they did is beyond me.  The agencies at work regarding immigration under Obama receive no respect because Obama has encouraged weakness.  Illegals come to the United States because they believe Obama said it was okay, so why should they respect ICE agents or Border Patrol officers?  There have been reports of border agents being attacked with rocks, and in the case of a Texas State Trooper, he was actually hit by gunfire from the Mexico side.

I wonder if, after Trump builds a barrier (I am not expecting it to actually be a wall), if these incidents against the United States will continue?  I am thinking they won't.  It's amazing the kind of peace that can be achieved when a society portrays an image of strength.

Then, we have to talk about those already here, be it 11 million, or nearly 40 million.  Will there be a pathway to legality?  Will they be gathered up and herded out together?  Or will it be something in between?

I have a hunch that though the benefits will be reduced, and the criminal element among the illegal aliens will be deported, much of those who are here will be given a pathway to legality.  So, if that is inevitable, and if there is nothing I can do about it, then I plan to turn defeat into victory, and make sure the pathway goes through me.

The program I will be working with CORE on includes a curriculum to teach patriotic assimilation.  Sure, in the beginning the attendees will be conservatives - essentially, those who already vote pro-constitution.  But, the theory is that once we saturate that segment of society, the word of mouth will deliver our constitutional literacy program to those who we really want to reach. . . like my brother-in-law's mother, and my mother-in-law.

Arsonist Caught on Video Starting a Fire in Israel

By Douglas V. Gibbs
AuthorSpeakerInstructorRadio Host

Speculation regarding the raging fires burning throughout Israel has pointed a finger at Muslims being the fire-starters.  Jihad by arson.  Circumstantial evidence regarding the locations and timing of the fires has stoked the belief that the fires were a part of a terrorist attack against the Jews of Israel in response to a recent law aimed at the Muslim call to prayer in the country.

Video evidence has now emerged showing an Arab Muslim starting a fire.

A reasonable shadow of a doubt has become "no doubt about it."

Fidel Castro Dead: End of Communist Regime?

By Douglas V. Gibbs
AuthorSpeakerInstructorRadio Host

The New York Times' reporting of the death of Fidel Castro, the communist revolutionary and dictator of Cuba, reads more like a celebration of the man's life than the reporting of a dead enemy of America.  Other mainstream media reporters are doing the same, with journalists hailing Castro for his "achievements" and comparing him to figures like George Washington.  In reality, Castro was a ruthless tyrant who brought the diabolical communist specter of the Soviet Union's communism to the Western Hemisphere, and a mere 90 miles from the shores of the United States.  Now, after a long wait, Cuba's state-run television has announced the death of Castro at the age of 90.

Cuban exiles who came to America to escape the terror of Castro's communism, once the word of Castro's death reached the shores of Florida, poured into Miami's streets to celebrate.  Cuba has been reluctant to announce Castro's death, but the news of the death of the despised dictator did eventually spread across Havana, and ultimately, the world.

Fidel Castro represents a final brick of the Soviet wall of communism that attempted to engulf the world, a fall that began in Berlin, and now finally may topple in Cuba.  The era of Soviet aggression we hope will eventually fade, but as it looks right now, the communists in Cuba will do all they can to try to keep Castro's revolution alive.

Ten days before his death a Vietnam leader presented Castro with a portrait of himself, garbed in his revolutionary uniform as Cuba's El Comandante.  Worldwide communists hold Castro up as a hero, while those who cherish liberty recognize him as a ruthless tyrant.

The era of Castro ushered in a vicious political confrontation while John F. Kennedy was president, bringing the fears of communist expansion into our backyard.  The Cuban Missile Crisis, however, was merely only one of many moments in history that Castro defied the United States.  Reality, however, dictates that the dictatorship may very well continue.  Donald Trump vows to reverse Obama's relationship normalization with Cuba, calling Castro a 'brutal dictator' who, because of his tyrannical leadership, was the target of 638 assassination attempts'.

While Miami is celebrating, as is all persons who embrace liberty and stand against communism, the Pope is actually grieving, and praying for the atheist revolutionary.  While the Pope is correct that we must love our enemies and hope they come to Christ, I think the Marxist Jesuit from Argentina is grieving and praying because politically, he and Castro have much in common.

In the end, while the end of Fidel Castro is something to celebrate, the reality is, the era of Castro may not be completely over - and the return of Cuba to liberty may not necessarily be something that will happen in the near future.  The disease of communism is something that may take decades, if not longer, to emerge from.  While the journey may finally be beginning, the prize still remains beyond the fingertips of the Cuban people, in the distant future - held there by the iron fists of Castro's allies.

Brushfires are burning through Israel, and it is believed that the Muslim terrorist element is behind the flames.

The army has called up reservists to help cope with a third day of fires, as a fifth of residents left the city
Authorities have speculated that the fires, in Israel's third city, could have been started deliberately.

[The] Raging bushfires forced the evacuation of tens of thousands of people from parts of Israel's third city Haifa on Thursday as firefighters struggled to control blazes across the country.

Flames more than 30 feet high were threatening several multi-storey tower blocks in Israel's third city of Haifa.

'It is suspicious that they started at the same time in six different areas in Haifa,' he said. 'We received reports and found it suspicious enough to believe that someone was behind the incidents.'

He said that people were seen running away from fire scenes, further increasing suspicions, and stated that four people have been questioned in connection with a blaze near Jerusalem.

Israeli volunteers help extinguish a fire in the northern port city. The fires have already burned for three days
'The fire was up over the skyscrapers. It came up to 20 stories high.'

Hame said she thought the fire was 'much more dangerous' than a blaze in 2010 in Haifa that killed 44 people -- the deadliest in Israeli history.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said any proof of arson would be treated as "terror".

Internal Security Minister Gilad Erdan said up to half of a spate of fires had been "arson terror", while another minister appeared to point a finger at the country's Arab minority -- drawing fierce rebukes from Arab Israeli leaders.

Some residents were trapped in their homes as the army called up reservists to support firefighters struggling to cope with a third day of blazes.

Haifa mayor Yona Yahav told journalists 60,000 of the city's roughly 250,000 residents had been evacuated, calling the scale "unprecedented".

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said residents in eight Haifa neighbourhoods had been told to leave due to six separate fires.

Around 65 people have been hospitalised with mild injuries, according to the Magen David Adom medical service.

Fires also raged in two areas on the outskirts of Jerusalem as well as near the Jewish settlement of Talmon in the occupied West Bank, police said, with Netanyahu saying there were 15 fire sites in total.

A number of countries made immediate pledges of support, including planes.

Noah Wolfson, head of the Meteo-Tech meteorology website, said the dry autumn and strong winds meant conditions were perfect for fires to spread -- whether sparked by accident or on purpose.

Wildfires tore across central and northern Israel on Thursday, forcing tens of thousands of residents to flee the city of Haifa, as leaders blamed arsonists for some of the blazes and branded them terrorists.

Television pictures showed a wall of flames raging through central neighborhoods of Israel's third largest city. Firefighters dowsed a petrol station with water as the blaze edged closer.

The fires have been burning in multiple locations for the past three days but intensified on Thursday, fueled by unseasonably dry weather and strong easterly winds.

"Every fire that was caused by arson, or incitement to arson, is terrorism by all accounts. And we will treat it as such," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told reporters gathered in Haifa. "Whoever tries to burn parts of Israel will be punished for it severely."

Internal Security Minister Gilad Erdan referred to "arson terrorism" and said there had been a small number of arrests, providing no other details.

On social media, some Arabs and Palestinians celebrated the fires and the hashtag #Israelisburning was trending on Twitter.

With fires burning in the forests west of Jerusalem, around Haifa, on central and northern hilltops and in parts of the Israeli-occupied West Bank, the government sought assistance from neighboring countries to tackle the conflagration.

Greece, Cyprus, Croatia, Turkey and Russia offered help, with several aircraft already joining efforts to quell the blaze, dropping fire-retardant material to try to douse the heaviest fires and stem their spread.

Netanyahu said he had asked for a "Super Tanker" fire fighting aircraft to be sent from the United States.

Education Minister Naftali Bennett, the leader of the Jewish Home party which supports settlements in the West Bank where Palestinians seek statehood, said on Twitter that arsonists were disloyal to Israel, hinting that those who set the fires could not be Jewish.

Haifa's mayor said he feared for the city and called on residents with water sprinklers to turn them on to help keep the flames at bay. Those leaving their homes were urged to go to sports stadiums and other safer locations.

Highway 443, which links Jerusalem and Tel Aviv as it cuts through a southern flank of the West Bank, was temporarily closed to morning rush-hour traffic as flames reached the city of Modi'in, about half way between the two conurbations.

Dry conditions and strong winds on Thursday whipped up wildfires near the port city of Haifa in northern Israel, forcing the evacuation of tens of thousands of people, damaging property and devouring forests.

Parts of the port city of Haifa in northern Israel were ablaze on Thursday as wildfires raged through the country for a third day, devouring forests, damaging homes and prompting the evacuation of tens of thousands of people.

Asked how long Haifa was likely to be battling the blazes, Mayor Yona Yahav told reporters, “This is a question that has to be referred to God.”

Israeli officials said the fires had been fanned by unusually strong winds and made worse by a dry atmosphere, but they also said they suspected that many of them had been caused by arson and negligence. Dozens of people have been slightly affected by smoke inhalation, but no serious injuries or fatalities have been reported.

Gilad Erdan, Israel’s public security minister, told Army Radio that the professional assessment was that almost half the fires were the result of arson.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attributed the fires to “natural and unnatural” causes and said that “any fire caused by arson or incitement to arson is terrorism in every sense of the word, and we will treat it as such.”

Several homes have been destroyed in recent days in the town of Zikhron Yaaqov, south of Haifa, and in Nataf, a village in the hills outside Jerusalem. Flames have also threatened Talmon, a Jewish settlement in the occupied West Bank. And on Thursday night the police reported a fire near Shuafat, a Palestinian neighborhood of East Jerusalem.

The first major fire began in the forest surrounding Neve Shalom, known in Arabic as Wahat al-Salam, or Oasis of Peace, a small cooperative community about halfway between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem where Israeli Jews and Arabs live together.

Despite the suspicion of arson in many cases, the Israeli authorities were cautious in assigning blame. But some Israeli news organizations were labeling the wave of fires an “arson intifada,” alluding to a Palestinian uprising.

Some Palestinians were celebrating the fires on social media, posting congratulatory messages on Facebook. “Enjoy the burning of your homes, you Zionists,” one wrote. Others described the fires as divine retribution for legislation being advanced in Israel, with Mr. Netanyahu’s backing, to ban or restrict the use of loudspeakers by mosques and other houses of worship across Israel.

Inflammatory social media posts celebrating widespread fires in Israel go viral in the Arab world as blazes rage in the Jewish state.

Arab social media networks on Thursday were rife with inflammatory celebratory reactions in light of the myriad of brush fires that have been blazing across central and northern Israel since Tuesday.

Dry conditions and high winds have spread the flames across the central and northern regions of Israel as well as parts of the West Bank.

"Tel_Aviv_IsBurning" was the most common Arabic hashtag trending on Arab social media platforms on Thursday morning.

One of the most proliferous tweets was published by a police officer in Abu Dabi that read "Israel has prevented the muezzin calls to prayer, and then it was engulfed in fire."

In addition social media networks in Egypt, Jordan and the Gulf emirates were also saturated with posts that indicated that the fires were nature's retribution over an controversial Israel bill to ban outside loudspeakers from places of worship, such as the likes used in the five-time daily call to prayer by mosques.

The imam of Kuwait's Grand Mosque, Sheikh Mishary Alfasy Rashid, also chimed in issuing incendiary remarks to his following of 11 million on Twitter.

"Good luck to the fires. #Israel_IsBurning," he wrote in an Arabic Twitter post accompanied by a smiling face icon and various photographs of the daily fires across the country.

In another tweet, he wrote that the blazes were "due to the prevention of the calls of the muezzin in occupied Palestine."

Another Kuwaiti sheikh, Nabil Ali al-Awad, also took to Twitter in a fiery rant to his 6 million followers on the social media platform.

"God burned their hearts and their homes and their money and their bodies and make their graves inflamed...because of what they did to the [Muslim] believers," he wrote alongside the hashtag "#Israel_IsBurning."

The Persian Gulf sheikh later returned to Twitter to apologized for using the word "Israel" in his previous post, attempting to explain that "there is no such entity. I used the word as part of a hashtag."
